A new cuber

I've been cubing for over a year and I avg. around 40. Also, why should we call you John? Is your name Korean for John?

I prefer John because it is more comfortable than using a long Korean name. Young Do Kim does not equal John :). You can call me anyway you want, but it's just preference that matters.

Can I call you just Kim? Or how about YodoK

Sure, I don't really care. Which do you prefer? (of all the names)

So hows it going Kim? See what I did there?

:fp I hope this is amusing to you, because it's rude to question something as simple as what to call someone when the person themselves has given it >_>.

Hello John!
I am Ranzha V E, and I have some tips for your welfare on this forum:

1.) USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION. Sorry for the stress, but if you make a thread such as "Help me, how do I do this?" or "Look what I just did!" or "Where are the PLL algorithms?" or whatnot, it gets quite annoying. There has been an overflow of n00bs around here (one being Edward, sometimes), and I wish you not to be one of them.

2.) For algorithms, use the wiki. If the wiki doesn't have an algorithm or algorithm set you are looking for, refer to tip 1.).

3.) Don't be a n00b! You want to be banned? I think not. Self-explanatory.

Other than that, I am envious of your speedsolving status on 3x3. I've been SPEEDsolving for about 7 months on and off, and I am at 26ish with Intu-F2L, 2LOLL, and full PLL.
There are a number of people who are on this forum who are moar than glad to assist anyone with any problem, so don't hesitate to ask!

That's about it, I guess. :D

Thanks. I don't think 3 months is a short time. I've heard someone averaging 20 in 2 months (it might be false).

Your above average.

You're not your....

On-topic: Welcome to the forums, don't double post, use correct grammer when you can, and don't be a noob! I've been speedcubing for a year and I'm only averagin 25 seconds.... but that may be since I don't practice much. You are still above average though, and will become much faster then me.

I hope you hit sub-15 very soon! Happy Cubing. P.S. Thanks

I've been cubing 5ish years now, but I haven't been doing it consistently. I got to mid 40's average using keyhole (PB at the time was 32s, now it's 20.92), with cross mainly in left hand. I hadn't explored Fridrich method until August-ish of this year and I set out a goal of wanting to be consistently better than 30 seconds, and able to do BLD. I'm finally getting most of my solves under 30 seconds, so that's a plus. I don't have the time anymore like I used to, to just solve all day. When I was in high school (when I started learning), I'd cube pretty much all day. I'd say back then it definitely took less than six months to average 40 seconds.

Again though, you are definitely above average. What is your average F2L time? My LL can sometimes take up to 9 seconds. The few times I get 13 second F2L's, I'm always like wow why can't I just get an easy OLL and PLL just so I can do it and finally break 20? But oh well, time will come!

But good luck, if you keep at it you'll be sub20 in no time. I strongly advise you read this thread. It gives a nice little road map on how to get faster with Fridrich / sub20.

I NEEDED that thread!
Thanks.

Fine, thanks. How about you? (Can I ask what I can call you?)

Is that sarcasm?
Call me Doobah smith of the Contanian Republic. Lol call me Edward

It wasn't. anyway, thanks :).

I know I suck.

don't say that. everyone was at your level once. anyway, 3 months of cubing to averaging 35 second is pretty good. my friend, who inspired me to cube, has been cubing for almost a year and he got stuck at 45~second average with a PB of 39 seconds.
