I agree with Stephan, and Charlie, to some degree. Accusations and gossip can get out of hand very fast, and before long they can snowball to complete malice without foundation, long after the accused cleans up their act.

Ben: The best idea right now would be to stop posting lucky singles, and just post averages of 5 or 12 right now.

Charlie: Which WR holder were you referring to a few posts back?

Feliks

Thank you, I'll look that up because I'm curious. No doubt whatsoever casted on Feliks though.

Lol at the arguments in this thread.

LMAO at the solve. forrealz ben needs to stop posting rubbish solves, real or not, and needs to start posting averages. And don't go pulling a yish.

EDIT: olook.

Dude. He just posted an average.

Damn it. Ninja'd before the post! The edit wasn't there before I clicked, but it was in my quote!

- His list of records included lucky singles (without saying they were lucky)
Correction, he did label as lucky and non-lucky:
http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?p=200285#post200285
But I believe people did talk about the lucky records as if they were claimed non-lucky records, that's what I meant. And I think some even talked about his single records as if he had claimed them to be averages, and based their false accusations on that misunderstanding.

That post was Stachu's reply to me when I wondered why they're hating and expressed that I believed Ben. All it is is a list of Ben's absolutely reasonable records, as well as three pointless issues that Stachu pointed out and that I easily refuted. That was supposed to explain the hating?

It's not that I missed it, I just interpreted it differently to you, which is why in some cases I wouldn't consider it poor judgement at all. Just because something, by your standards, could be "explained by innocent mistakes..." doesn't mean it couldn't either.
Judgement is poor not only when it's wrong, but also when it's unjustified and presented with such conviction as decisive proof and used to fuel retaliation when it's really merely poor evidence at best.

And note there *were* lots of proven false accusations. Example:
Stachu: He claims to be the world record holder in many events.
Stefan: Where does he do that?
Stachu: About being a world record holder, read his channel comments.
Stefan: I just did. Don't see what you mean.
Stachu: I seem to have been mistaken. He only claimed being the record-holder for one event.
Stefan: he said he's the UWR holder for the Whip-It. So what? According to speedcubing.com he actually is.

So there, you can see Stachu actually admitting he was mistaken. And boy was he "mistaken". About one of his main justifications when he tried to organize a bullying campaign. Not just that mistake itself, but also making the further mistake basing harsh actions on that mistaken, recklessly sloppily collected evidence.

Also, look no further than this thread right here. I asked Musli4brekkies twice to explain his "The way he reacted after the solve made it looks very, very suspicious". The first time he replied he ignored my question and asked me what I think, then when I asked again, he said "I mean it's not difficult to put the cube down and act as if you are amazed". What?! Musli clearly showed that he had no real justification whatsoever for his strong accusation, but I guess he just felt good making it.

Alright... I intend to leave this thread now... it's taking too much time from me that I'd rather spend on constructive stuff rather than on fighting destructive stuff. As things are going, I feel the need to clearly express this: If I don't respond anymore refuting accusations, that doesn't mean I couldn't or even that I agree.

Stefan: Watch his video again, he has added annotations saying that he was just showcasing an easy scramble.

His reaction was to fool us, but he has explained his actions.

Wow... when I read that, I said to myself "You better be right about that...". Then I did watch the video again and yes, I see his annotation:

"Ignore this video, Im not trying to show my solving ability, im just showing an easy scramble"

Ok, Musli... explain to me how you justify claiming that he tried to "fool us" with his reaction or the solve. He gave the scramble and solve right in the beginning and added the "too lucky to count as my PB" very early on, so this all-explaining annotation didn't add anything new.

Right now, I think you're the biggest ass I've seen in quite a long time. Please, please give me reason to change my mind.

Let's just share the love and not hate anyone, ok? Disagreements do not make the person.

I like happy vibes.

Indeed. I apologize again for being an ass. Those were very poor reasons to do such a thing, and well, I'm actually bewildered that people (to my knowledge) didn't hate on me for a while afterward. I would have greatly deserved it for just unjust actions.
As far as the present is concerned, I believe that whether Ben is or is not a liar/cheater, this thread would have been much more appropriately placed in the silly scrambles thread. People 'hate' on him enough as is, and this inevitably was cause for more of such hate. The only justifiable reasons that I feel that he may have cheated that I see *now* are
a) Gis old 2BLD video (which has been removed) in which his face was not shown, and the cube was barely placed under the table
and
b) The original video here, using CubeExplorer to get scrambles is conspicuous (notice. conspicuous, not suspicious). Although this point is made, if anyone else had both of these programs open, there would be pretty much no accusation, so I'm totally fine with leaving him the benefit of the doubt.

Wait, are you admitted you practised? Is that the meaning of the annotation? It's just to show a scramble? I'm sorry it just looked very practised. Though nice job uploading the average. I want to see more averages, less easy solves. Upload a good solve if you get it, but 10 move f2l? No.

In my case the judgements I have made about Ben are not unjustified at all, and I therefore do not consider them to be "poor". Perhaps in your eyes yes, but not mine. Also, you are referring to poor judgements made by Stachu anyway, for which he apologised. An admirable way to behave in the instance that you are found to be doing something you shouldn't be. Ahem.

Ben, good on you for uploading an average.

Also, I don't really understand why you would come into a thread, make loads of counter-points to people, then claim that it was "fighting and destructive stuff", and decide to leave. Aren't *you* making "poor" judgements about the way in which this thread is going? Actually, many people appear to now be supporting Ben and there has been a considerably more positive attitude towards him since he posted an average of 5 video. So you could actually say that this was constructive.

I don't think I said *you* made poor judgements, only that many were made. And I do acknowledge that *you*, at least in the original post back then, didn't call his videos cheating but merely a "joke". Which they kinda indeed were, at least in our standards.

Also, you are referring to poor judgements made by Stachu anyway, for which he apologised.
There were many others as well, he was just a good example. And yes he apologized and that was very good. I actually sent him a message last night saying sorry I had to dig out his example and thanking him again for how he handled it in the end. Cause I didn't want him to think I still hold a grudge against him and his post here sounded a bit like that.

Ben, good on you for uploading an average.
Indeed. Though I just wish he didn't have to.

WHAT?! Please, in the future... don't rewrite me, just copy&paste, ok? Here's what I really said:
it's taking too much time from me that I'd rather spend on constructive stuff rather than on fighting destructive stuff.
There was no "and" in "fighting destructive stuff". I did *not* call my own stuff destructive and I do *not* think it was. As is clear from what I really said, I think I was fighting destructive stuff, namely trying to defend someone's reputation that was unfairly attacked. What a difference such a small "and" can make... so please, in the future just copy&paste. It's bad enough that *you* misunderstood, please do not change my words making others misunderstand as well.

You wouldn't act like that if you had just shown us an easy scramble. He acted as if he just got a really fast solve. Maybe I'm just too cynical of him. I'm sorry to have annoyed you, but there's no reason to call me an ass.

WTF? Ok, I admit that "just showing an easy scramble" were Ben's own words and they're ambiguous, but why do you always have to assume the worst possible meaning, ignoring evidence to the contrary? He didn't just show us an easy scramble, he mainly showed us an solve and a fast time. And easy scramble and easy solve are commonly used somewhat interchangeably, that's nothing new and you really should know better.

As I understand it, scramble and solve were absolutely legitimate, not staged, it was the first attempt, not practiced. He does have pauses during the solve, even tilting the cube towards him to see the back, and you can clearly see that the previous solve (beginning of the video) ended with L2U, while his fast solve ended with U'R. I see absolutely no good reason to believe it's in any way fake, but I do see considerable reason to believe it's legitimate. Plus, innocent until proven guilty. At least among the civilized among us.

I'm sorry to have annoyed you, but there's no reason to call me an ass.
Annoyed is an understatement, you actually managed to enrage me. With the repeated strong and flawed accusations showing no good justification whatsoever, you're the epitome of haters, and I absolutely despise such behaviour, particularly when it comes from within our own community. I can ignore the outside haters on youtube, but among ourselves I find it absolutely unacceptable.

Don't know whether you know, but back when Matyas was attacked, I was refuting unfair and unfounded arguments both for and against him as well, up until the point where we finally had real evidence. And if he comes back and people attack him unfairly and viciously and make flawed claims, I probably will call them out on that again, even though I have no doubt he did cheat and don't exactly like him much, given the way he handled it afterwards. I wish I could just let things like this slide, I wish I didn't care that much about others and our community, but unfortunately I do.
