Thanks for all your help Charlie and you too Tyrannous you've really given me help in deciding. I'm gonna try and go ahead with it I mean come on I'm a 13 year old just trying to make a bit of dosh. It can't be an entire waste of time. I'll post again once I've got my first order but by all means feel free to list all the cubes you want. The reason why I'm going ahead is beacause I find that puzl don't gave many diys and I'm gonna try and stock as many different type as I can. Thank again for your feedback ! :)

OMG you are thirteen. Goodness me, I thought you were older. In that case I would REALLY urge you NOT to do this. If what I have said to you hasn't made you think... then please read it again. I'm a lot older than you and really did thoroughly investigate this, please take my advice..

Seriously, don't spend loads of money on stock because you might not sell it. How are you going to deal with that situation? It seems like despite every negative aspect to your plan I have outlined, you are still going for it, so please just try and minimise the damage you do to your funds. I hope your "investor" knows how much of a bad idea this is!

You are telling us that the reason you are doing this is because you find puzl don't have many diys. You don't need to find a solution to that problem, we already have, it's called popbuying/c4y/dealextreme/whatever. Don't do this because you think it's a good idea, please take some advice from some more experienced and well informed cubers... PLEASE....

Fine but I've already made an order should I just sell this on eBay ?
And yeah I'm 13 almost 14 though

Well that was a bit silly wasn't it. I thought you wanted our opinions? Seeing as you've bought some stock now (I hope it's not too much) you should sell it maybe to make more of a profit than you would have done in a shop. If you were selling it in an online store you presumably would price reasonably to attract repeat custom, but if it's going to be a one off you might be better selling it on Ebay.

The fact that you are almost 14 doesn't really change much, it's clear you haven't actually thought this through much :p What have you bought?

I bought 10 lanlans just to see if they would sell

Ok well that's at least wise enough. The other issue you are going to have is that people aren't going to know about your shop (apart from your SEVEN orders you mentioned) so when they desire a 2x2 lanlan, they will go to the usual places. Perhaps you should work on a marketing strategy ;)

I really only have 3 to sell and I was gonna put it on my YouTube channel to publisise it

Perhaps you should prepare your Ebay listing. Maybe look at some others to see what they have written to give you some tips on what to write.

What is your youtube channel? Perhaps you could post the video in this thread when the goods arrive.

Maybe you should factor in the cost of packaging, have you considered that? Do you know how much it will actually cost you to send the 2x2s?

It might be an idea for you to make some youtube friends and subscribe to some cubers so that they will be aware of your channel and puzzles you are selling, otherwise nobody is going to have any idea you exist.

To ship a 2x2 by royal mail first class is £1.56 and yeah I am gonna try the eBay thing but what is the difference between selling on eBay and selling in my shop ??

There is no difference you will still be able to sell your product but there are a few things you may want to think about.

What are people more likely to find, your shop or Ebay?

Where are people more likely to buy from, a shop they've never seen before, or Ebay?

If you are selling in your shop with the intention of continuing this "business", you would want to price your items competitively to encourage people to buy from you again, therefore making your profit margins smaller. If you sell on Ebay as a "one off" just to get rid of your stock and put an end to this ridiculous venture, you might be able to sell it for more by putting a "buy it now" price, or people may bid against each other. If they bid you will see how much people are willing to pay for a lanlan 2x2. You should also consider that there are listing fees for ebay items, but you've probably already thought about that.

It's funny people like camcuber make opening a shop look so easy. I really wanna try it someday

Perhaps you should wait until you have a reputation in the cubing world. Go to the off-topic section and introduce yourself in the relevant sub-forum. Tell people about what you like about cubing and then contribute relevant things as and when. Don't just jump in deciding you want to open a shop, it doesn't quite work like that.

Puzl started on eBay. Prime example. Like Charlie said.. There isn't a mass amount of cubers in the UK, so making a profit would be difficult, where other companies and shops have it down. You would have to invest a hell lot of money and time into it which, no offence, I doubt you have. If you were to ship outside of the UK into Europe and so on it would be more beneficial to the business but then you've got the increased shipping costs etc...

There is another guy here http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18353&highlight=Cube+shop. He said he's opening a cube shop. Also just to let you know I'm gonna put the lanlans in my store and then make a video on YouTube about it to publisise. This way I can look if people are interested and if there not I'll just sell the remainder on eBay. Oh and final thing I may be going to Bristol spring so if you want we could meet up. Lol, this is definately the final thing if I do go ahead and start this bussness despite what you say I'm gonna ship to all of Europe and if the 10 lanlans sell and people request more I will restock but if it goes wrong I can only have myself to blame. Yeah I know I'm quite stubborn.

Yes, if you go to the Bristol Spring competition we could meet as I am indeed the organiser. If you want to set up a table to sell your puzzles on, that's okay with me.
