mf8 megaminx

My mf8 was also crap =) actually it didn't turn in the begining 'cause it was all glued together... then it just turned like someone had forgot there lunch in it... then it got lubed and loosened... and now it turns okay... but it still locks up like a *beep* ;D

well, i had the same problem, but after i loosened the screws and lubed it, it turns great. but, the only problem is lock ups, im not sure how to fix this, yet, but when i do, ill tell you

i have type 2 mf8 megaminx (i have also mefferts and pvc mega)
when i received my mf8 some pieces were glued together, when i changed the tension and lubed, i think, i like it more than my mefferts because even how loose it is, it doesn't pop, it has only few lock ups, and when your get used to it, sometimes you will not suffer lock ups in a solve.
for me its the best, well its just my own opinion...

I had the same problem with pieces being glued together. I found that to be extremely annoying. I had to take the whole thing apart and cut the three sets of pieces that were glued together apart.

Is modding really necessary? I noticed that it turned like crap as well out of the box, but then I just loosened each side until that springy sound was gone. Then I lubed with Jig-A-Loo. It turns like a dream, how I imagine all big cubes should feel. But you may not want to take it all apart-it takes some manual dexterity to put it back together. I'm stickering this bad boy, though. It can get painful to turn, even with the smooth turning. The tiles are pretty thick. (I need to stop making this mistake; same with tiled QJ. I hate it.)

I use a mf8... mine turned fine out of the box. No glue at all. The only problem with it was the pops, so I replaced the springs with springs from some pens. The megaminx was more loose from the new springs, so I tightened each side. This in turn allowed for less pops, and a slightly faster megaminx :D
