Do you need long fingers for one-handed cubing?

Just started doing some OH (with my left hand). I see some insane videos showing people doing it almost as naturally as with 2 hands.

Is it true that you need long fingers to be able to do all the moves easily or just practice will get you there? For example, I have problem doing U move in 1 motion with my left index finger.

I was wondering this too. Along with having bigger hands. My hand isn't that big nor do I have long fingers.
For me my finger kind of got use to it. At first it hurt really bad to do U but now after practicing RUR'U' alot it doesn't hurt so much. Just practice it should get easier. Try doing alot of R and U moves to train your fingers.
But I think that if you're really worried you're fingers are too short, get a smaller cube. That's what I'm hoping to do since I'm still not very good at OH.
Good luck :)

You definitely don't need longer fingers, or bigger hands. The only setback I could see is that it could take a bit longer to get used to a normal sized cube. As Janelle said, If your still worried about it, buy a smaller cube, such as the mini type C, or the Maru Mini cube.

Don't listen to him about the Maru Mini, it definitely is not suitable for OH, but I use Mini Cs (but I suck).

What's the general consensus on hand size's effect on cubing? I have big hands with long piano fingers, and I always though it would be easier to cube with shorter fingers, they wouldn't get in the way...

I didn't really know about whether or not the cube was good. I just typed the first small cubes that came to my mind :p.

My fingers are longer than average according to my mom, but I fail at OH. I can only do U' and R, everything else is either taking 5 seconds to do a U or doing a z then doing R, then z' >_< Then again, I don't practice... I'll focus on getting a decent 2 hand time before trying OH.
