DIY cube question

There is no way for us to tell you how much we screw it in(there probaly is cause im mos tof the time wrong)

But it took me only 20 minutes to get it perfect.

First i tighten it all the way. Then i unscrew a little play with it if it doesnt pop i unscrew more untill it pops alot. then i tighten it back up so its loose and doesnt pop.

I generally prefer my cubes to be loose enough to cut corners but tight enough to avoid most pops. I'm ordering my first DIY tonight, so I'll probably be experimenting around with tightness soon.

why are DIY cubes suposed to be better? is it only due to the ability to adjust the tightness of the cube?

They're not necessarily better. You can have a really good store bought cube and if you compare that to a DIY that you've poorly configured you'd be hard pressed saying the DIY is better. Then again, if you do a good job at configuring it then you can justify saying it's better than the store bought cube you've.

One could generalize, but I think there are far more poorly configured DIY cubes than there are crappy store bought Rubik's Cubes.

Tim.
