Hello everyone,

I've been a long time reader first time poster. I wanted to get opinions on my store bought. I solved this cube around 20 times then I took it apart and noticed the following.

The cube didn't have any plastic shavings in it, and I also noticed a big notch in the core. I was kinda wondering if this is normal quality for a store bought.

Thankfully I've got several DIY on the way.

Yeah the area is smooth, It doesn't look like a break. I'm not sure what ate up the core though. It kinda looked like someone drilled into it at an angle. I trimmed the rasied portion of the core with an exacto knife and now it plays smooth.

I'm just kinda shocked that quality control didn't catch it.

I'm used to finding some of those white smudges on the arms of the core in store boughts, but those are a little bigger than I've seen before. How's the actual quality of the core?

Oh, and I'd avoid taking off the center caps to see if you got a DIY (i realize that was probably a joke), as storebought's caps have the tendency to not want to stay on after you take them off without notching or superglue.

It wasn't a joke, and is a small amount of super glue a huge price to pay for finding out whether or not it's a diy?

I was under the impression that this was a rubik's brand, probably shouldn't have assumed...

...fair enough

Who said anything about Rubik's?

Did the pictured storebrought at the start of this thread come in a box or in some plastic packaging? If it did, it would aid in determining the storebrought brand.

Almost all of my cubes same in boxes, plastic packaging or in case of the black ghosthand, in a brown pouch bag.

It came from walmart, Large triangle plastic packaging with strip of tape on both ends. The type of package that can easily be opened far enough for the cube to be removed without doing any damage to it.

From reading this site alot, Walmart do sell some really good storebroughts that with sand, working in and lubrication are just as good as DIY cubes.

The rubik's studio cube has adjustable screws, and center caps that stay put. Though they are brutally expensive (the only place I know has them for 14 euros), I'm going to pick up a couple today.

EDIT: 69th post. :p
