Actually, I'd like to know this: how many times did you see a 0.02 or 0.03 treated as a DNF? I'd like to know the number of times you saw this happen in competition.
I *think* I remember Bob Burton declaring a 0.03 as a DNF, because he thought only a 0.02 was a legitimate timer malfunction. But I could be remembering that wrong - if I'm not using a memory system, my memory is not all that reliable.Since I can't even remember what competition that was at, I would say my memory is pretty unreliable on this. I certainly can't remember who the DNF went to.
Edit:Completely off topic, but how come the WR single bld solver http://www.worldcubeassociation.org/results/p.php?i=2008ZHUA01 is faster at blindfold 3x3, than normal 3x3?

That's not good. This means that the competitor can have extra inspection time. In this case an extra attempt should be given like the current rules already state.I have an idea for solving these cases:
If the competitor's hands leave the stack and the stack stops, but he haven't touched the cube, he can reset the timer and start it again. In this case every 0.02 and 0.03 would be dnf too if you solve the cube and didn't reset the timer. But you could avoid this easyly.
What is your opinion about this?
The ones we have now already have to be stopped simultaneously. What if we had stackmat timers which you have to hit both pads simultaneously in order to start and stop the timer?
Would there be any problems?
And/or perhaps, the timers should make a sound to confirm that the timer has started or stopped?
