boiling cubes!

i might try this with my diy when i get my new stickers, i don't want to ruin the current ones and have no speedcube, i will put the water to boil, then put the pieces in, then let it sit overnight, but not until i get my new stickers...

are you gonna put the new stickers AFTER the process?

yea, AFTER, I don't want to ruin any good stickers, and mine still are. I will remove the current stickers, boil it, then resticker it with new ones(that havn't come yet...)

We did this at Nationals with (either an ES 2x2 or a Sq-1, maybe both?). Not sure why we used hot water. All I remember was that we plugged the sink with a Snapple cap, that the cleaning/boiling of the cube ended up turning into "who can keep their hand in the water the longest and not end up with burnt fingers for finals tomorrow," and that this all occurred shortly after we played Hacky-Sack with a 2x2. Can someone else who was there correct me on the details of that?

I REALLY need to get to nats next year, sounds like so much fun...

I wipe the cube with rubbing alcohol to remove sticky residue and then soak my cubies in hot water with dish detergent to loosen the gunk and then scrub them. I can't imagine I could get better results and there is zero risk.

Oh, yes. I seem to recall now that we put an ES 2x2 in a plastic bag to play hacky-sack with, then it broke, we washed it in scalding hot water, and then Rowe put it back together. Needless to say, it wasn't that good.
