hi there guyz,

firstly, lemme start off by saying that im new to this site, but not new to cubing. i average around 27 seconds....but i wanna get faster.

secondly, i need some advices on how to get the cross done on the bottom and how to do it without looking...im having some trouble with that.

thirdly, i know full pll, so now im learning full oll. many ppl say that you shud learn it using triggers such as (R,U,R',U'). but i honestly find tht difficult.
im learning the olls pattern by pattern.
so i learn all the cases which have no edges oriented then cases which have 2 adjacent cases oriented then cases which have 2 adjacent edges with 1 corner oriented etc etc etc.....so u get the point......
i need to know from u guy whether this is a good idea or not....

i hv already learnt 20 olls this way (excluding the 7 cases used in 2look oll)

fourthly, F2L.....i hv heard ppl say "LOOK AHEAD, DONT LOOK AT THE PAIR YOU ARE SOLVING, LOOK FOR OTHER ONES WHILE YOU ARE SOLVING A PAIR"
now i find tht quite hard....:confused:
i can do the cross+f2l in a maximum of 20 seconds, thts if i mess up , usually its around 17-18 seconds.
how can i look for other pairs while solving a pair....?

if u guyz can help me overcome these 3 issues....i will greatly appreciate ur help.
:D:D:D:D:D

i hope i havent done anything wrong....since im new to this site....
if i hv done something wrong, i apologize for that.

thanks!

Lol, so many of these threads. :p
Its funny how similar they are also.

The secret is practice.

OR ZB method, but that requires immense practice.

are many of these threads? im sorry im not very good at navigating this site....yet...as i said...im new and glad im here !:D

well yeh, ur right, practice. but if u dont know what to practice and just 'practice' anyway....it can really mess u up.....

what is this ZB method?

Practice what you're bad at.

Find a corner and an edge, figure out where they go, then close your eyes and place them. Do that enough and you'll find yourself watching them less as you're inserting them, then you can force yourself to look for the next pair.

If you want to do cross on bottom, plan it out ahead of time, then solve it without watching. I get a DIY and stickered it with only the centers and cross, this took me from a 15 second cross on top to a six second cross on bottom in about two weeks of limited practice.

I know full OLL, but there are a lot of people on the forum that are a lot faster than me with a 3 look OLL.

Ahhh, its cool.
People like to ask for advice, but the answer is usually always practice.

The ZB method is pro.
First you do 3/4ths of F2L like fridrich, and then the last pair is done in a way that orients edges. Increases chances for OLL skip ALOT and LL skips by 8 times.

Then you solve LL in one algorithm.
Very satisfying method. Im learning the sune/antisune sets as we speak.

BUTTTTT, you need to learn 200+ algs, not counting ZBF2l.

There is no advice on how to do cross on bottom. You just have to start practicing it that way. You will hate it, but if you practice it a lot for like a week, you'll get used to it.

Doing the cross without looking, I will make a tutorial on Cross-F2L transition. In that tutorial I will mention how to do the cross without looking. It'll probably be up this weekend.

Lol lol this always makes me laugh :D

Look at my tutorial on how to look ahead in F2L. Since you think that is hard, I would advice practicing Dan Knights' looking ahead exercise. It is at 6:16 in the video.

By the way, this thread should be in the "Speedsolving Help/Questions" thread. How-to's, Guides, etc. is for experienced people to post guides, not to ask for help.

I'm not mad, I'd just like to know:

In the index, it says:
Here you can find a compilation of general how-to's, tutorials, guides, etc. This is not the place to request help or ask questions!

The correct forum for your thread was definitely Speedcubing Help/Questions, which is at the top of the list.

uNamed2lyfe, did you somehow never take this into consideration, or did you think you had a good reason to make the thread here despite the bolded part?
I'm just really puzzled why people keep doing it.
