This is not going to be just another thread asking, "how do I make hybrids?" or "what hybrid is the best". I was playing around with my Edison cubes today and found a method of making hybrids that, so far, has worked for me.

Most people when they want to make hybrids take there two best cubes or, two cubes very similar in cubie size or weight, well I was thinking I have a lot of bad cubes, but almost as many great cubes. So what I did was I took my best cube, Edison, and my worst cube, type F, and swapped the cores. And what I was left with was one amazing cube F cubies Edison core, And one okay cube, the opposite. I tried to do this with my second worst cube, A2, and it worked great again!

Try this for yourself, and post your results, or thought of it below.

about a month ago, i put in storebought cubies on a type A or D core and centre (i can't remember which one) and it was amazing! no lock ups and cuts corners very well. the only problem was that the centre pieces were white and the outside cubies were black! :(

ya I herd that one was pretty good, maybee you could paint the center caps

I never like it when people ask me "hey what's the best cube out there" I usually never answer it because it's very dependent on the cuber's preferences. I use DIY type A's, and Rubik's Brand 3x3s, to me those are the best, I know a lot of people would immediately think otherwise, but my mind won't be changed.

So it is my opinion that there is no such thing as the "best cube" out there, so stop asking other people (who have different preferences than you) for it and try to discover it for yourself.

I had a couple of bad cubes -- a DIY that would explode all the time on the tightest setting, and a tight store bought. Changed the pieces and voila, the cube was not as bad.

I think that you should experiment with making hybrids from your worst cubes -- the worst that can happen is they are still poor, but the best is that they become reasonably good.

Thats actually the whole point of this thread, mixing good and bad cubes

I made took my 2 good cubes.. c4u core and type C cubies.. it was AWESOME! But sorrily I have only purple c4u and white type C and they are a bit different size and color.. so the cubies pushed the center caps out all the time.. I had to take it apart and put the right cubes together again.

I use that very same type of cube for competition solves even down to cubie colors and center cap colors. :D
