What is a good way way to quickly recognize PLL things so I know what alg to use?

Cubestation also has alot of rotations of the cube :-|

Once you learn all 21 pll's recognition isnt an issue really, but when you know say 13 out of 21 you can easily get them confused.

For the funny algorithms with lots of pieces moving everywhere I identify a 2x1x1 block and then look for which way the corners go. Then by the alignment of the 2x2x1 I know which algorithm to use if the corners go clockwise or anticlockwise.

Just find two or more adjacent pieces matching, and move them to their correct place, and it should be easy to see the PLL.

Yeah, I simply match up the largest block of colors I can find, and some you can recognize by how many blocks, like T perm has 2 opposite, A and V have 2 connected blocks.

Is there an efficient good way to recognise and remember the G-permutations? I know all te plls except for those and find them really weird

there are 4 cases of g perms.

there are 2 different ways the 2x2x1 blocks will be. by knowing where the 2x2x1 block is at, you eliminate 2 g perms out of the 4. then u look at the sticker beside the 2x2x1 block. you look at where it wants to go. there are only 2 other possible places it can go, and depending where it wants to go, you execute one of 2 algorithms.

sorry if that was a bit confusing, but that was how I did it. you will understand how g-perms work once you use them often enough.

For G-perms go to cubewhiz.com. Bob Burton has a great way of recognizing G-perms... You'll have to use his algorithms for them though..

One other way to learn the PLL-recno faster, is to compare similiar cases side by side:

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I post my question here:
At which two sides of the U-layer should I look first in order recognize the pll cases or blocks? Front+Left or Front+Right? Or does it not matter?

Look at the one that has the headlights or pairs on it first. ;) I don't think it matters. Honestly PLL is really easy to recognize once you've practiced it for a month or two.
