Finger tricks

They probably don't use a guide. Most of their finger tricks would've been self developed over time due to a lot of practice. Eventually you figure out how to execute a sequence of moves with the least amount of effort in the shortest period of time.

It's like touch typing with a keyboard. A beginner might be pressing away slowly at the keys but after time your hands become familiar with the keyboard and you're able to press multiple keys precisely within a short period of time. :-)

i have just been cubing for a couple months now and have developed some great finger trick skills, practice and you will find that some ways of spinning the cube are faster than others...like using your index fingers to turn the U face instead of re gripping and using your whole hand

Heh, I use my left thumb and right index finger primarily for doing U turns :-)

It's generally easier to turn a face with two index fingers on opposite sides of the face as long as the grip is comfortable.

Of course, it's also generally more difficult to be that efficient doing moves with your non-dominant hand. Unless you're ambidextrous, which research has proven to be some brain mal-function, where the thought process is split, then.., your dominant hand will usually move better. For such moves as L' U' L, it feels awkward and clumsy for me.

Same, that's why I'd do r' U' r instead so that my right hand is more involved.

In fact, I don't do L face turns at all. I just grip L with my left hand and use my right hand to rotate the rest of the cube :-)

That seems odd, not to use your left at all. I can't imagine how that would be done. Does it work well for you?

Yeah, you just translate L notation into the following:
L = r
L' = r'
L2 = r2
L2' = r2'

(I very rarely need to use L2, ZPerm is just one example I can think of)

You need to be gripping the cube properly to make it work efficiently :-)

Finger tricks training

I was wondering if someone got a link about this or something. I discovered that if you are going to get 13sec average you must have good finger tricks. Does anyone have some method for training your finger tricks?

^ Joel Van Noort's page is pretty useful. Also some sites have PLL pages that show you how to do the finger tricks through some weird notation.[/QUOTE]

Which sites?
