Type C Hybrid Question

I really like my type C but it seems like I have to adjust my tension once a day after heavy usage. I was wondering if I swapped the core and screws with the cube4you cubes if my cube would still feel the same. I would use type c cubies, centers, and springs. I would just swap the core and screws because The core and screw structure is very strong on my cube4you cubes comepared to my type C. You think swapping the core/screws will still make the cube feel the same?

*I want some opinions first because its a pain setting my type c tension

I for one, dont think so. The type C screws and springs are just so different from the cube4you.

Harris Chan used that hybrid though.
I presently use cube4you core with Type A cubies, and its my favorite cube yet.

I think that your hybrid will be awesome.

Well I was planning on keeping the type C springs.

*I just saw Harris Chans Video. He kept the cube4you center pieces while I plan on using type c everything but the screw and core.

You can't use anything but Cube4you springs and screws in a C4y core. I did this with one of my type Cs, and it doesn't really change the feel that much.

I agree with Chris (Cubes=Life), the type a with cube4you core is just unbelieveable. The only reason I don't use mine is that the stickers are a bit faded.

C4U core/screws/springs with type C Cubies is...interesting. It locks up way too much, but it has a nice crispy feeling. Right now I use type C cubies with type A core and Type D screws/springs. It's pretty good, other than the fact that the centers are green and the cubies are white. Better than my regular black type C and the C4U/C hybrid.

If you use really well broken in cubies, it hardly ever locks up, so if you want to do the mod, I'd recommend breaking in a normal Type C for a few months and then switching the core.

Oh so the c springs wont fit on the cube4you screws? And the only reason why i want to hybrid my cube is because my type C's tensions tend to loosen/tighten on certain sides after heavy cubing. Cube4you core and screws are more sturdy imo

I fixed that by putting a little loktite on the end of each screw and in the core before screwing them in. Works like a charm.

Well according to Howtocube on youtube the cube4you core and screws with Backwards springs with type C cubies locks up less than the normal way. Check out the video. They have done many trials to see which setup was better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nr03Mk68hF4

It works good on the Rubik's DIY as well, which is not surprising given that the Type C is the alleged Rubik's DIY clone. But this is also our opinion... you should keep trying setups till you get what you like and I'm finding out more and more there is no substitute for breaking in a cube.

Well I like my type c the way it is... but the core/screws are not up to par and I find myself having to adjust the tension about once a day..

That's interesting that the tension changes on your type C. I have a gray type C from C4Y and I absolutely love it. I have had a love/hate relationship with this cube for a while because it is a very punishing cube when you don't turn accurately. Now that my accuracy is improving, I can really fly on this cube and I hold my pb single record on this cube. I hadn't broken my pb single in months with my type A and I broke it within 2-3 days of putting my type C together. I'm now working on making an improvement to my average.

Again, maybe you just have a dud type C, but may I ask how accurate you are with your turning? Does your type C lock a lot? Or do you get lots of "mini lock-ups?" These are the kind where your solve still feels fairly fast, but you time is noticeably slower than you usually do. This is caused by lots of tiny lockups all throughout the solve.

Just some ideas. Perhaps buy another type C? It has taken me a month or more to get used to/break in my type C, but now it is easily one of the best cubes I have ever owned.

I get better times on this cube than my others, I even got my new pb single with it. I think I just have to break it in more.. I got it about 2 days ago. *Back on topic about your question. I get a few mini lock ups, but that is because I am still trying to get better at turning accuracy. All in all I like this cube and intend on buying more.
