Speeding Up Time...

HQ, can you tell us more about your separate times ? How much time do you need for cross ? First two layers ? Last layer ?
It will make it easier for us to understand what you can improve first.
The method of Jasmine is not worse than any beginner method.
To improve your cross time, just search in this forum for cross, there has been a lot of tips about it.

cross avg = 10 seconds ( average of 5)

F2L = 50 seconds (average of 5)

Last Layer = 35seconds (Average of 5)

i think that you just need to practice recognising the F2L a bit more. ive been learning this method, and at first it takes a while for your brain to recognise things, but with lots of practice and evaluation then im sure you can improve the F2L :)

Here's some data from a while back when I was just under the 60 seconds mark and wanted to know which part of CFOP was taking me the longest and needed more improvement.

Solve Times at each stage of CFOP
Cross 7.9 8.83 11.58 10.82 7.35
F2L 36.3 27.31 35.48 41.57 37.27
OLL 8.83 11.65 15.91 7.72 12.66
PLL 7.24 6.31 10.83 10.78 6.62

Average
Cross 9.296
F2L 35.586
OLL 11.354
PLL 8.356

Percentage of time at each stage of CFOP
Cross 13% 16% 16% 15% 12%
F2L 60% 50% 48% 59% 58%
OLL 15% 22% 22% 11% 20%
PLL 12% 12% 15% 15% 10%

Average
Cross 14%
F2L 55%
OLL 18%
PLL 13%

---

This data just shows you roughly the amount of time it takes me to complete each stage. I used a stop watch for each stage so I was continuously starting and stopping which affected my overall solve times. This doesn't really matter though as it still gave me the percentage and it's what I expected.

Tim.

I think i seem to be getting the hang of the F2L. my F2L speed is faster, but now it just hits the same speed as when i do the beginner way..

HG:

Cross: you can improve a bit. I think 10 seconds is a lot.

F2L: this is clearly what you must work on. Did you see the video of Erik ? He shows a lot of nice tricks about F2L. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbKvOXE__CM I think you should also do some solve WITHOUT TIMING. Just take your time but try to understand what you are doing, how this pair could be paired up better, what would happen if you do this this way or that way, and so on... Normally F2L should be done in less than 30 moves. So if you do one move per second + 1 move break between every pair it will be a 34 second - F2L. 50 seconds is really too long.

Last layer: you could improve it by learning some more algorithms or try to perform the ones you know in a better way. Try to see how you could optimize your fingers by performing them slowly. Look at cubewhiz to see how he is performing them for example.
