Im still quite new to cubing and the only other diy I had before this violet c4u was a bad type d that fell apart in 2 days. anyway, I realize that when im performing algs other sides easily move even when I dont intentionally move them which causes the cube to lockup randomly. Is it just me or did I overlube my cube? The tension is also set fairly tight. I did not like it when it was loose.

*i am talking about my c4u brand diy

I think that it is mostly your own fault, because you are not used to such a fast cube. I also find the C4Y cube to lock up a lot, but I don't think it has anything to do with the lube, and this cube should be a good cube for beginners. I would also suggest to clean out the lube to see if this is the problem.

I had a load of lockups on my C4Y cube, every time it locked up I checked what locked on eachother and sanded those parts down so there is a bigger margin where they simply slide over eachother.

The pieces I got sanded down at the moment is all the "lines" from sticker to the inside of the cube and the inside "block" on the edge pieces. Most lockups are gone now.

Hmm well when I first got it I lubed it. Then the next day I full sweep lubed it. Then I adjusted the tension. Then I lubed it again.

And I did it once more lol because it kept feeling not as fast as it did after re adjusting the tension. But I guess after getting it broken in, it glides way too much when there is hardly any pressure on it at all.

Well anyway I ordered another Violet from deal extreme because of the free shipping. Ill make sure to only lube it once after I adjust the tension to what I like and if there is a big difference than this cube must have been overlubed. I use CRC heavy duty silicon btw.

I wouldn't have nearly as many lockups if the sides of my cubes stopped randomly turning due to pressure while doing algs lol.

just try without the edge caps = no more weird lockups

is this true? can anyone confirm this as my c4u cube does some strange lock ups where it locks up then theres a big click sound then its fine.
Not confirming this.

If you put the edge caps in the right way, there's no way it can cause lockups as there shouldn't be a noticable edge between the cap and cubie (you can see it, but barely feel it)

Also, the mod I explained above gets rid of those random stops (or most at least)
Unless you mean you're pressing one layer against another (like applying pressure for U' while halfway doing an R' turn, meaning you press the FU piece against the right layer)
If that happens, it isn't the cube...

no its random stops, it locks up i can look round the cube to see if all is lined up which it usually is. Should i use a very fine sandpaper?

I have noticed that mu c4u cube only locks by my own error. I'll be trying to do an alg fast and turn my u-face before my r-face is done turning. This makes my corner cubie lock with the u-face edge cubie if you're tension is correct its you're error. Just going off my experience.

this cube4you cube is really fast after lubed so u nid to control ur hands
and its really smooth so u dont need to apply so much force when solving
im still not used to this cube tho but thats bcoz i just started using it just now...i believe it will be better after a while
all in all its a very good cube..havent pop on me yet

Well, I think this is the inner pieces on the edges locking up on eachother (barely any misallignment caused this for me already)

What I did, first take a rough file to get the plastic off, then a finer file to smooth it out a bit and then 400 grid sandpaper to smooth it out all the way.
