Odd way of participating in events?

OMGZ PEOPLE!! I had to post this somewhere but didn't want to make a new thread. Takao is doing 3x3 speedsolve at SD open?!?!

After 20+ comps with no 3x3, he will finally do it... unless it was some sort of mistake. Does anyone know what that is about? I was unsure if I was going to go to the SD open but I think I will have to go now just to see that.

If its not a mistake, I see two possibilities:

1. He didn't have a 3x3 before
2. He wasn't very good at 3x3 before. He is really good at the events he has done.

Or maybe something else I have not thought of.

3. As a working man with a growing family he doesn't have much time to practice, so he concentrates only on sq1, megaminx, and magics.

Huh? That's an explanation of why he hasn't done 3x3x3, not an explanation on why he's now signing up for 3x3x3.

Clarification, he didn't actually sign up for 3x3. I asked Adam, and he said he was the one who marked it. Takao had left a note saying he wanted to do another unofficial sq-1 BLD attempt. I guess Adam's planning to have him do it during 3x3.

He has solved a 3x3 though. Lucas has photo evidence.
