Hi,

getting an optimal or near-optimal DR state on a 3x3x3 cube is hard.

As mentioned in this post, God's number on a 2x2x2 cube is 6, so ideally you should be able to consistently get a DR state in 8 moves or less on a 2x2x2 cube.

If you want to check/train your solutions there is a computer solver.

Isn't this Guimond orientation?

Stricly speking, Guimond steps would be:
  1. solve at least 3/4 of a red face
  2. solve both red faces
If I didn´t suck at finding a 4-move solution, my previous solve would be the following:

As you can see, there is no Guimond step 1 in that solution. I also believe that God´s number for a DR state on a 2x2x2 would be at least 7 when using 2-step Guimond as described above.

But feel free to use whatever method you like :-)

P.S. a 3x3x3 parallel would be solving EO prior to DR instead of solving DR in a single step.

From any angle, right?
