Why is everyone so convinced that bro isn't sub-7?
Maybe because he only went from a 15.37 PR average in September of last year, to a 12.79 PR average in July this year. That's 2.58 seconds saved in 10 months, now he's claiming to have saved 5+ seconds in the past 2 months? That doesn't sound very realistic to me, or anybody questioning him. It's pretty obvious it's a lie, and I don't get how you could believe that. They aren't suddenly getting Chinese coaching to become sub 7 in 2 months, and it's certainly not possible to improve that fast in such a short amount of time without it.

Thank you! I suppose I just find it difficult to understand why anyone would want to lie about their times.

It happens a ton, especially with young kids, and new members. Oftentimes they think it will make them cooler if they say they are faster, so they do it for their ego. There have even been a few notable members that are still present in the community who have shared cheated times here in the past, who I won't name for privacy since they've all moved past that. Even Feliks used to share faked times when he was still starting out here, but of course you've seen that he moved past that, and became one of, if not the greatest cuber ever. Unfortunately, most of the little kids who share cheated times like this won't ever reach anywhere near that level, or ever surpass the times they are cheating with.

Yeah it just isn't constructive. It doesn't help one's credibility or reputation in the community, and more importantly, it's detrimental to one's own progression and confidence. Keeping up with a false scenario is exhausting, both in convincing yourself (which is often partially true) and others, or fearing that your real times will disappoint people following your progression. It isn't a good use of energy, and being honest will lead to constructive feedback and discussion. 12 seconds is not bad whatsoever, and getting better just takes patience like every world class solver needs.

It's also super rewarding to hit milestones after all the work, and it feels better when you're honest with your skill level and take pride in what you've already accomplished to get there.

Heres some truth: I sometimes do early timerstops at home, is that enough?
