I am very late, but so glad I have now tried Acubemy. In fact, I am absolutely thrilled that such a nice software is available!! Thanks. I have only used it with my Gan I4 and Tornado V4 AI, but I'm sure it will work also with my other smartcubes. I recommend it it highly, especially to those who have a good smartcube but poor software from the cube maker (that means all of them except Gan). I also recommend it to those who would like to have a common user interface (and this one is really good) to use on all their smartcubes.
What I particularly like:
1. Easy login using Google account ID. So easy. Gan's Cubestation makes you wait each time, when you login or the-connect. There's no need to set up login account using an email ID.
2. All the text displayed are easy to read. For example, Cubestation has small white on grey background text for the solve times (in Training). They are so annoying when viewed on a phone.
I mentioned Gan's Cubestation was a reference because Gan has made about 16 smartcubes already but unfortunately its app, while very comprehensive and functional (unlike just about all other cubes makers apps}, is still not fun to use, often frustrating, and buggy, eg Chinese characters showing occasionally. I still use it because Gan has a robot that that can be used with its app and smartcubes, eg to pre-scramble the cube to a particular OLL or other partly solved positions, for repeated practice .
3. Practise mode is the best out of all the apps I have used, making practise such a joy. I like using free scramble, and Acubemy doesn't make me press so many times or clicks to repeat the same grind, or cause mistakes when you forget to press a button. I wish it could remember the free scramble turns (so you have a record, and you can repeat the solve and troubleshoot), just like Cubeast, but unlike Cubeast does not run out of memory if you go over 50 turns and then force you to solve the cube in order to restart.
Acubemy remembers my settings, and uses them even after I left the app. Cubestation makes me select Free scramble every time I leave the current screen, eg when I have to go to the Device page, or select another smartcubes, ...and it also makes me re-set or re-adjust my favourite orientation when solving.
4. Besides Cube Reset, Acubemy also provides an Orientation Reset, accessible without going to another screen, and it instantly fixes any issue in how the cube is displayed or orientated on the screen. I prefer Yellow on top and Red at the front, with my Roux like method. Just one click of the Orientation Reset button, or 4 turns on the cube, fixes any problem, say, after a timeout disconnection. There's no need to go to another screen, drag the cube image displayed to what you want (for the 200th time).
5. There are also other nice things I noticed, like efficiency, but to sum it up, I would say this software is created with user convenience as a high priority, most probably by dedicated software engineers who are themselves keen cubers. User Friendliness!
