That is an interesting theory and might not be to far from the truth.

I think this video is pretty accurate he mentions how yiheng one worlds without sliding and is good enough to win and I think his idea that there might be stuff going on behind the scenes and its more the parents then xuanyi and yiheng beefing also seems accurate.

there’s only two things they can do about sliding at this point:
Option A- Allow sliding for all competitors but tighten the rules (some user on the WCA forum suggested this, i won’t go into full detail because it’s way too long)
Option B- Introduce 4-pad (which has also had some arguments on the WCA forum)

yiheng you are no longer my goat i really thought he got three consecutive sub-4 averages in one comp the WCA needs to do something about this FAST before any major championships happen

4pad is essentially the same speed as 2pad without sliding just don't slide on your timer and then practice the stops on the 4pad timer at the comp

You can also just do it before the solve as long as you tell your judge something like "let me just make sure I know how this works first" so that they don't accidentally lift the cover lol
