Ok. The comp was actually insane. I managed to break 3 overall PBs and I made 2x2 and skewb finals. Here’s the recap:
Mega R1: cutoff was 2:15, I knew I could get under that, and I started with a 2:03.24. I ended up getting a 2:15.74 average which is PB2.
Sq-1 R1: got a 19.90 single and 24.81 average! Placed 7th, one spot of of finals :/ but it was by 7 seconds so I wasn’t rly that close anyway lol
6x6 Finals: 4:46.92 single, 5:06.10 overall PB mean!
7x7 Finals: 7:45.26 single, overall PB single by like 1:30, and so I thought I had time to maybe try one more. Ended up getting 7:50, but i did go over and do it was DNFed.
3BLD Finals: started off with a 3:44.21 success, then got a 3:05.81 on the second one! I ended up solving the 3rd one too, but unfortunately DNFed the last two. I placed 4th…about 30 seconds from podium…
4x4 R1: got a 55.05 single and 1:00.67 overall PB average!!
3x3 R1: very consistent 17.65 average with a 16.02 PR single
5x5 R1: got a 2:17.96, so close to 2:15 cutoff and also super close to PR single…
2x2 R1: absolutely INSANE scrambles, started with a 2.54 single, then 4.21, 3.65, 2.94, 4.34 for a 3.60 average…which placed 9th. I was so happy with the average, but was a little bummed I didn’t make finals. But then…2x2 finals were starting…and a mom at the comp asked me my name and then told me I was in finals, because someone dropped out (my phone was dead and I hadn’t looked at the results lately), so I was super happy!
Skewb R1: as if this comp couldn’t get any crazier, it did. Started off with a 10…so I was really trying hard not to count that. But then the scrambles got good. AND I GOT A 4.99 OVERALL PB AVERAGE!!!!!! I have no idea how that happened, since I was simply going for sub-7. But I placed 5th somehow.
3x3 R2: nothing crazy, 16.46 and 18.51.
2x2 Finals: I did kinda bad, other than a 3.18 single, but I got a 5.20 average. Tucker Chamberlain got a 0.64 Southern record single on the first solve, but I didn’t do his solution…I think I know what it was though and I could’ve gotten sub-2…oh well
Skewb Finals: again, I couldn’t top what happened last round, got 4.97 single and 7.31 average.
I cannot describe how incredibly thankful I am for the opportunity to go to this comp. I thank the organizers for managing to postpone it after the weather, I thank my mom and my friends mom for taking me and my friend, and most of all, I thank God for giving the second chance, and in return, I give him all the glory for my solves, because I couldn’t do it on my own without him. Also, thanks to
@Caleb Valenzuela and
@Jared Burkhart for helping and encouraging me! It’s gonna be hard to top this comp lol, but can’t wait for the next one!
