let me present the problems with getting 3x3 NR for those cubers right now
Current 3x3 NR: 5.13
Sean: He hasn’t competed since like 2024 because of school, which probably means he hasn’t had much time to cube either. And after college he will probably get a job, so he might not return to cubing anytime soon.
Leo: He is also in college from what i know, so that also means less time to cube. Additionally, it seems like he improved only when Neo appeared, so i guess he gets inspired by competition from competitors in his area (don’t take my word for it though). His averages suddenly jumped back to like mid 6 to mid 5 as well.
Neo: Not sure about him though, he might get NR, but his recent averages were like low 6 to high 5, so probably not soon.
So the only two people who have a chance at NR is like Leo or Neo, but they might not get it this year or next year
but all that opens the door to new competitors!
Some people to keep an eye on:
Dylan Yusef Valenzuela: he has a 6.65 PR average already and only has been competing for around 1 or 2 years. He already has like 3 sub-7 averages. He doesn’t compete much though
Juan Miguel Magallanes: He has a 7.05 PR average, but he’s kinda inconsistent since he’ll get a high 8 average on one comp, and then a low 7 on another. He’s also the current 2x2 average NR holder. He’s also an all-rounder which might slow his progression a bit though.
and of course
Caleb Venevalalalvalenzuela: this guy has a 7.37 PR average and rarely has comps in his area, unfortunately his nerves get to him quite easily so he misses easy solutions. Also he fumbles the last solves of his average often for some reason. He has the least chance of an NR in the future (although he’s very ambitious)
