Do you think an official sub-3 3x3 average is possible?

Is a sub-3 average possible?

I have seen no evidence of time improvement slowing down in my lifetime, no matter what the community has speculated. Sure, why not?

I made this graph. It looks roughly like a straight line, but all the records since 2023 have only been Yiheng who is now only making small improvements and the graph is leveling off. So we will be able to judge better after 2 years or so.

Maybe I will make a video showing the progression of each cuber individually in a video. If there is enough interest.

Hello, I want to see if you guys think a sub-3 avg is possible. The thing is that I will do ask this every time a 3.x barrier is broken, so I could see how attitudes change over time. This first survey is the sub-4.0 addition (should have asked this as soon as the 3.91 happened, but I only thought of it now)
My question is, if we will ever see a sub 2 official 3x3 single, when will it happen? As for this in the future this sounds crazy but I can see 100% one look 3x3 rate from top solvers with some crazy techniques

i’m gonna predict a 2.89 3x3 average WR in mid-2029 before Worlds which will happen in Oceania (all are predictions btw)

don’t you guys notice, that every time we make predictions we always are wayyyy off? We try to make “reasonable” predictions but they are always proved wrong by somebody. So what if we try to be “unreasonable”? From Feliks’ 5.53 WR average in 2019(estimate) to Tymon’s 4.86 WR average in 2021, nearly 1 second was dropped in about three years. From Tymon’s 4.86 WR to Yiheng’s 3.90 average, over 1 second was dropped in about 3.5-4 years. Do not underestimate the improvement of cubers and cubing as a whole!
