I obviously understand that you dont want to do FMC for an hour just to get a guaranteed loss in the end, but I dont get why you wouldnt at least do 4x4 and 5x5 just so you have actually competed, since its only 5 solves each in a week. If you were gonna surrender an impossible match, I dont understand why you registered in the first place, as that was pretty much guaranteed from the kinch based seeding.

In the end I cant force you to do anything, its your decision.

Wdym by kinch based seeding ?
Do you mean like my opponent (2013BROW04) has a similar kinch score to me ?
Like I know i was pretty cooked from the start but if so i can say with a guarantee their kinch score is way higher then mine.
Ill still compete tho its just both confusing and (imo) a tad annoying, as i thought that Id at least be put with someone of a more similar skill level - as similar as it can be at least.

Thanks

The way proper seeding works is that you have a ranking of all competitors (in this case kinch based) and then you match the first against the last, second against second to last and so on.

While this might be considered unfair to the weaker competitors, as they are matched against very strong competitors, it wouldnt be any more fair for one of the top 2 competitors to be kicked in the very first round due to them beeing matched against each other. The better you are, the further you should be able to expectedly proceed.

It was good seeing you guys🫡
My opponent literally has a sub 2 pyra average and sub 1 5x5 average, I guys it's bad RNG
Also if this would have started after Nats, I could have had a better match, since my kinch is TRASH, I haven't completed in over a year😭
I'll still compete ofc

yh i see what you mean, however if you put people of equal skill against one another, whilst it is unfair to the better people, i dont believe ive ever seen anyone complain about that.
Also, if you grouped people in the more standard way, that would make people more happy then it would make people angry imo.
I also believe using kinch scores from peoples WCA to group people is kind of stupid (imo) as people, such as @CubeLite have not competed in ages, and so their kinch score may be inaccurate.

lastly, whats the point of having a comp in this style if people arent given a chance to progress into the comp - you might as well of u not accepted the worst (etc) 8 people, so that the top (etc) 8 wouldnt have to waste time doing a round they are guaranteed to win.

My problem is a problem and multiple have it, but can you stop being a child, you want to see someone with a kinch of 10 to get 3rd, while someone with kinch 30 gets last?? This is a normal way of doing brackets style comp, I also did this for my skewb tournament and nobody complained because it makes sense

wdym child bro at least i gave why i think itd be better to do like the more equal against equal rather then this - i didnt just say "OH YOU SHOULD DO IT THE WAY I WANT FOR NO ReASON WHATSOEVER"
empahsis on THINK, i didnt say it HAD to be made like the way I wanted it to be, but that was just my opinion.
and also alright you have given me an example of when it has worked fine, which i didnt clarify that this is a bad layout since i didnt really know from experience.

thanks for the criticism and rudeness to my opinion tho, no hate to you or whatever.

Ok bro, I didn't say it in a mean way, but you already said like 2-3 times this, that's why I said child, he already got your idea

This is incorrect, as I have organized this tournament multiple times and decisions like these have been backed by feedback of the majority of the community.

I also believe using kinch scores from peoples WCA to group people is kind of stupid (imo) as people, such as @CubeLite have not competed in ages, and so their kinch score may be inaccurate.
It is a fair criticism that this seeding disadvantages people with few comps and that some of them are not at fault for their low amount of comps. I opted for this seeding because it is
1. Easy to do, due to existing resources
2. A very solid representation of allrounder capabilities
3. Does not require participants to do anything beyond filling a form to register

Back when comps were a lot more scarce, I experimented with adding weekly comp results into profiles, but this just led to a lot of confusion, as it made the seeding more complex and it also added a lot of additional work.

lastly, whats the point of having a comp in this style if people arent given a chance to progress into the comp - you might as well of u not accepted the worst (etc) 8 people, so that the top (etc) 8 wouldnt have to waste time doing a round they are guaranteed to win.
Everyone is given a chance to progress and that chance is relative to how good of an allrounder they are, which is entirely in the spirit of the tournament. It is also not true that all of the people seeded in the bottom half have no chance to win, there are definitely very interesting battles in the middle range of seeds, which is how it should be.

All in all, you want a tournament that interprets fairness in a sense of "everyone is equal", but to me fairness takes into account how skilled the competitors are, which I think would be unfair to ignore. Keep in mind that you are on the very extreme end of the spectrum here, as you were seeded second to last just ahead of the guy with no ID, so you having a hard time was entirely unavoidable. Anything to accommodate slower cubers to have better chances is automatically decreasing the chances of better cubers, which I find less fair in a competition.
