The Future of WCA Events

I honestly don't think that any event will be removed in the next few years because as CubeMaster said in his video (google it) it would ruin those community's of people that practice and love the event. I would say clock would be removed but it got revived with the regs and 7Simul. Any way here is my take on new events: My takes on new events in the WCA

Feet got removed two years after the format changed from mean-of-3 to average-of-5.

Clonk is not safe.

(I mean it is – nobody expects any event to be removed in the near future – but not for your stated reason.)

5BLD might get removed because not a lot of people do it. pyra might also get removed just because its not a cube. 2x2 might get removed because its so luck based, its losing its 'fun' value.
I agree with the first one, not even 1000 people compete on 5BLD, but they'd keep the other puzzles like Pyra and 2x2 because those puzzles were OG puzzles from the 1970s-80s.

Honestly overall it seems unlikely events will get removed since each event already has a large community around it. Pyra is not a cube but neither is megaminx or clock. 2x2 is luck based but so is every event and many other fast events are quite dependent on luck like pyra and skewb. In the end these events may come down to luck but there is still a lot of skill involved. You can hardly argue 2x2, pyra, and skewb are mostly luck based and if you know more algsets and have practiced more you will be faster in comp barring anything extreme.
i wonder if 4BLD will also get removed.
I don't think 5BLD and 4BLD will be removed since a lot of people have put a lot of effort into them but it would be one of the events that make a bit more sense to remove even if I would be opposed to it.

4x4 OH? Who’d have big hands for that? And OH and BLD Squan seems like a 1/1000 chance it can be solved like that.
I'm not sure how OH Squan would have any different chance from being solved as the normal square 1 and people like @Mike Hughey have developed ways to always solve a square one blindfolded if done correctly.
