Im grinding 3x3 currently, my goal is to become sub 20.
When I solve, I glance at the timer when I finished F2L, and usually its already around 13-16 seconds through. The rest of the time is LL, which I think I really need to improve. I'm not sure if I should keep grinding with my current beginner cfop knowledge, or learn full PLL. Thanks for the help!

Ao12 I just did:

I think its closer to 6-8 honestly, and I also have a bad habit of rotating the cube to do algs instead of turning the top face, that wastes a lot of time
I had that issue up until like a month ago. It's not hard to fix as long as you consciously think about it during solves. For cross, how many colours do you solve on and do you use intuitive F2L?

I always solve white cross because doing it from a random side can mess me up because the f2l pairs are different. I should probably try solving yellow cross because the f2l pairs are almost the same on yellow cross.

For f2l, I dont really know what "intuitive f2l" means, I just find the edge and the corner and find a way to connect or insert them, there are several common f2l "cases" I am familiar with. I also can do side inserts pretty quick to avoid extra rotation.

Update: I'm now sub 20 again and I learned J perms, now the main problem is long pll rotations and regrips.
I'm also unsure if I should keep using R U u perms or M U ones, the R U ones require less regrips but they are easy to get a +2 on.

What do you mean by PLL rotations?

I use the RU U-Perms, mainly because I can't do M moves efficiently, but in my experience the RU U-Perms don't give me many +2s at all. I don't know if it's true for everyone, but I have heard that people get more +2s on MU U-Perms the the RU alternatives.

By Pll rotations I mean that (especially on u perms) I rotate the cube to the correct orientation for the u perm instead of just doing extra u moves to align it

Do U moves, I had this issue but fixed it recently. I use R U U perm because I'm bad at Ms, and rarely +2 it. Maybe consider a new fingertrick. Also, M U U perms you might DNF(not sure on this)

Hi, its been a while since ive been active on this forum so this is an update of current 3x3 progression:
I took a several month-long break from cubing but I'm back and learning full pll rn.
I currently know 9/21 plls, the most recent one I learned being E perm, and the next one I'm planning to learn is F perm.
I just got the wrm v10 and will be maining it for now, I avg around 20 - 22 ish with it.
I will also soon learn more efficient solutions to various f2l cases because messing up in f2l is what messes up many of my solves, I do too many rotations also during f2l and spend too much time regripping.
This is my most recent Ao5:
