What 2x2 should I get?

MGC Elite: it’s good notable people include Ram and Scooch, but has breaking problems
Qiyi MS: no top player uses it to my knowledge, but it is definitely a good cube for beginners and turns well. This is the cube I main.
Qiyi Valk: Used to be the goto cube, and was used by Zayn for many of his WRs. The problem is is that they are discontinued and basically don’t exist anymore, but if you can find one, it is good.
Moyu Weipo: This is a fast cube, and I really like it, I tried someone else’s once, and I really liked it. Because of its speed, may be hard to control however. Notable people include Brian Johnson and Alexey Tsvetkov.
Gan 251: This is probably the best choice, but it’s expensive. It is used by many cubers including Zayn, Yiheng, Phoenix, and Yoav.

I like MGC Elite, followed by Weipo WRS.

Might want to clarify Weipo WRS (not wrm). Some people might get confused between the 2, since wrm is usually Moyu's flagship cubes.

The MGC Elite, RS2M Evo and Weipo all are very controllable cubes that pros tend to prefer, but for entry level i think it's more benficial to go for snappy, well turning cubes like the Gan 251(?) Pro or a cheaper option would be the QiYi MS. The MGC Elite and Weipo take careful lubrication and setup to perform at their maximum so i wouldn't actually reccomend them if you aren't well versed in setup, especially as in my experience 2x2s don't respond super well to lube.

Tldr: Gan 251 Pro, on a budget the QiYi MS (if you do then loosen it)

I use the rs2m evo and it's really good for 10 dollars
RS2M evo:
Agree if you manage to set it up properly, its peak potential performance is insane esp for the price

GAN 251:
most popular among top 2x2 solvers as for now, its also my main but its just expensive esp for a 2x2

VALK2 M/LM:
GOAT of 2x2 hardware, esp with mgc springs its very viable for comps as its very stable and reliable which helps handling with nerves. but at the end if day its just so rare nowadays

Mgc Elite:
good only if you are lucky enough to get one of the early batches (pretty much the same as any other mgc cubes, the molds are getting older and the quality of the plastics are no where as good as the early batches)

MoYu Chuwen M:
best 2x2 for almost a decade, lots of top Chinese solvers are still maining it, including RuiHang Xu, Jack Pan (former 2x2 avg AsR and one of the founder of PiCube), JiaZhou Li, Sky Guo (2x2 NR of Hong Kong)… But tbh it needs magnetisation and tons of breaking in like at least Ao10000, and all their chuwens are modded by PiCube in some way depending on their turning style, like embedded magnets in the hidden edges or custom strong or weak springs, I even mained a ball core chuwen M for a while

OP DaYan 2x2:
feels like the Valk but even smoother, very first 2x2 that is viable for speed solving (the rubiks pocket is just too stable even after spring swap and florian modding). Pop still occasionally occurs like GAN latest 3x3s but was already by far the best 2x2 before the Valk 2M was released or before magnets was added to the chuwen 2x2. Its even way rarer than the Valk 2 coz only the earliest batches with black screws are actually good (so called OP dayan or old plastic dayan)

I am considering getting both the Qiyi MS and RS2M evo, because that's 2 good cubes for about 20$, instead of just one like the MGC Elite.
Good choice, but I recommend qiyi m pro over qiyi ms coz the later batches of qiyi ms has get rid of glossy plastic and went for frosted plastic instead. Also the spring in the qiyi ms is kinda weak and its not adjustable unless you do spring swap. That’s why i recommend the qiyi m pro instead as you will be able to adjust the spring compression settings like on the rs2m evo. And, by experimenting on setting up your qiyi m pro and rs2m evo, you can understand more about how your turning style on 2x2 is like and if you found yourself into the event, you may consider upgrading to a flagship afterwards. Neither of these 2 cubes would limit your performance anyway before you’re sub 5 imo.

I have a cheap qiyi 2x2, and I need a better one. I’m considering the MGC elite, but doe’s anybody else have any suggestions?
Here is what I’d reccomend:
$20: YJ MGC Elite

This cube is pretty good for the price. It is pretty fast and has a crisp feeling to it. I don’t main this cube because it catches too much or me, but if you have an accurate turning style you might like this cube.

This cube does have one problem though: it is very susceptible to the corners breaking.

$15: MoYu WRS
I have never tried this cube but I have heard it is very good. Most top 2x2ers don’t use this cube, but Brian Johnson uses this cube and has a sub-1.2 official average on it.

(Discontinued) Valk 2M:
This cube is very stable, and very heavy. If you like slower puzzles, then you might like this cube. The only downsides to this cube is that is has a slower max TPS and that it is discontinued. If you find this cube do be too slow, you can use the medium length YJ MGC springs and that will speed it up a lot.

Make sure to set up this cube if you want to take it to its fullest potential

$30: Gan 251 M Pro
This cube is very crisp, and has the fastest TPS potential out of any cube. However, this cube is a little bit catchy. I find that putting in blue GES nuts fixed the catching issue for me.

I as well as most 2x2ers main this cube because of its potential for high speed.

Make sure to set up this cube if you want to take it to its fullest potential.
