So as were at the end of the year, I decided to host the Forum Awards 2023. I think that @Running for cube has already hosted it past year, so i can cancel this if he wants.

Were going trough 2 stages: Voting for nominees and voting for the winners

My idea is use the categories from past years, and have a spot in the form to vote for a new category. If a lot of people like it, it could become one.

I couldn't find a copy/paste for last year, and I'm too lazy to type all that stuff, so here was 2020's:

If this seems like too much, I could also help with this. I could see why not though, after the horror that was the canceled mid year awards.

I dont want to copy and paste all of this because otherwise i might be copying the caterogies, and i think it would not be fun if the 7 people who filled out the form could answer again
I remember reading somewhere in some rules that that was what you were supposed to do, unless a bunch of people vote to remove/add one. I'll try and find the rules in 1 sec.

EDIT: I can't find it, I may be wrong.

Just an idea; should we rename some of these to make them for current members (Kir hasn’t been active in ages), or should we keep the names for posterity?

(for example, Xyzzy Award for Smartest Member)

Yeah, I say that would be cool. Just keep some of them that are still active, such as the Mike Hughey Award for Nicest Member:

I will do these:

Also, just wondering, do you remember ever seeing something that said that all the categories would be used unless a large amount of people vote to remove/add one? I might be losing my mind

I don’t recall there ever being a rule set for forum awards, but there’s years of precedent. When Ben and I did it in 2020 (I think?), we tried to hold true to the common traditions, although iirc we removed a couple for being too controversial, and the community voted on adding some as well.

Im sorry, english isnt my first language

I think it would be better to only give awards to things what happened in 2023

No worries. Yeah, generally it’s only for things from that year. (Which is also why nominations don’t usually start until late November or potentially even January 2024)
