Declaration of Unified Profile Picture Movement on the Speedsolving Forum

@ProStar, while it's your idea is very interesting, there are many recalling and ethical issues that this would never work.
As @Jorian Meeuse mentioned, it's easy for people to look at one's profile and know who you are. I got confused when I saw your profile picture and didn't know who you were until I saw your username. (Which is unique, by the way)
Being unique is what is so cool. Forget the idea that if we share the same hobby we should share the same profile, or share the same profile picture and use a similar picture to show it's a badge of being on this site.
Third, going with uniqueness, even though I wear uniforms for CAP, it's not good to be wearing the same thing as everyone else all the time. Eventually, you want to be different. You want to stand out. That's what each profile picture does: they stand out and kind of tell a story. With yours I can tell that you like Marvel, or with @Cubinginatree they really like to cube in trees. Mine you can tell I like Garfield, and I share some common hobbies like eating a lot and being lazy. (I should do a picture of Garfield in running shoes tell me what you think).
With ethical stuff I was going to say stuff about propaganda and communism then I realized that it wasn't at all the idea you were going for. You just want everyone to be the same. That's the issue: even with people that share profile pictures of ducks, even the ducks are different. Some are military based, some are chill, and some I don't even know.
Finishing it off, trying to share a hobby through a picture is an interesting idea, the fact that we are on this site is a sign enough that we are all cubers. We don't need to share the same profile picture. The goal of cubing is to share knowledge, break records, make friends, cube with friends, and have a fun time.

Thanks for reading, a very enthusiastic lasagna lover

Dear @Garf ,

Thank you for taking the time to voice your thoughts and concerns. Your feedback is invaluable, and we genuinely appreciate the depth and insight you've brought to the table. I'd like to address some of the points you raised:

1. Uniqueness & Identity: At the core of the Speedsolving Forum Revolution is not an aim to suppress individuality, but rather to strengthen our collective identity. We absolutely acknowledge and cherish the uniqueness each member brings. The idea behind a unified profile picture is symbolic, signifying that while we might have diverse interests and personas, we also share a common bond. Think of it like a flag: many people rally behind it, but each has their own individual story.

2. Confusion & Recognition: I understand the concern about recognizing members. The unified profile image is just one aspect of a member's profile, and usernames, as you pointed out, play a significant role in identification. Over time, as with any change, the community would adjust to this new visual cue and learn to recognize members primarily by their names.

3. Telling a Story: The beauty of a profile picture is indeed the story it tells. Even within a unified theme, there's room for variation and personalization. For instance, a unified badge or corner overlay on the existing profile picture could be an alternative, offering a balance between individual expression and shared identity.

4. Ethical Concerns: I appreciate you recognizing that our intention isn't propagandistic or communistic. It's merely an effort to foster a deeper sense of community. Our goal is unity in diversity. While we all might stand under a similar banner, our voices, experiences, and contributions remain distinct.

5. Being Cubers: While our presence on this site indeed marks our shared interest, the visual representation of this unity can further solidify our bond, especially for newcomers. It's akin to wearing a jersey of your favorite sports team. You're proud of the team, but you're also an individual fan with your own reasons for supporting.

In conclusion, the heart of this initiative is to enhance our sense of belonging while still celebrating what makes each of us unique. We'd be more than open to discussing ways we can adapt this idea to address the concerns you and others might have. Our goal is to work together to shape a movement that feels right for the majority of our community.

Warm regards,
The Speedsolving Forum Revolution Team

Dear @ProStar,
Wow, you speaka witha so many beeg words. Wow, so eempresive. Why thee sudden increase of fancee vocabularee?
*Ahem*
*Cough*
whoo, something stuck in my throat.
To begin, you push a rather sensitive topic. You are attempting to encroach on our only way of visually expressing ourselves, and you support your viewpoint with a series of logical arguments. You speak of a revolution. You speak of unity, peace, and prosperity.
*Sigh*
Is this the beginning of the end? Do you think we are so blind as to not see your scheme? History is repeating itself!! Germany, China, Soviet Union, and now our Beloved Speedsolving.com! I'll have you know, I've seen every StarWars movie out there, and I know what the beginning of an evil empire looks like. And on top of it all, you call it the SFR!!???
OH WOE! What's that supposed to stand for? SALES AND FORCLOSURE RESOURCES???!!!
Wait, that doesn't make any sense...
What does make sense is that I will not stand for this. I will be transformed in the midst of the conformed, and I will fight for PFP freedom until my dying breath... Because I am the "Green 1"
Who's with me?!!!

Dear @1x1 wr holder! ,

Firstly, we genuinely appreciate the passion and fervor with which you express your concerns. Every voice, especially those that challenge and question, strengthens the fabric of our community.

We understand that personal expression, especially in a digital space, holds immense value. We aren't aiming to snuff out individuality; on the contrary, we're striving to create an environment where unity and individuality can co-exist. Our proposed idea of a unified visual representation is symbolic and not meant to be a blanket imposition.

We assure you, drawing parallels to historical regimes and cinematic empires isn't our intention. Our inspiration stems from a place of camaraderie and unity. We deeply respect every member's right to express and identify themselves uniquely.

Regarding the acronym 'SFR,' it was chosen to represent our movement's ideals, not any hidden agendas. We apologize if it seemed otherwise.

We hope that as we navigate this journey, you'll see our intentions are pure. And even if you choose not to join us, we'll always respect and value the voice of the "Green 1".

May the force be with you, and with all of us.

Warm regards,
We, the Members of the Speedsolving Forum Revolution

I must say, it takes quite an education and honing of fine literature to communicate with such delicate rhetoric for such a long span of time, but your tone does grow tiring. An apple tree is planted, it sprouts, it grows, it blossoms, and then it fruits. But how long can such last before it rots? The only solution to keeping it from rotting is to eat it. Do you want me to eat you??!!! That's what I thought...

I advocate for my profile picture to be what's represented as the unified profile picture instead. I imagine it would be easier than the alternatives because a significant portion of people here have duck profile pictures anyway :cool:
Is it appropriate to assume that the majestic Duck Clan has views parallel to mine? If so, that would make quite the intimidating opposition to Mr. Prostar and his Sales and Foreclosure Resources.

To the esteemed members of the Speedsolving Rubik’s Cube Forum,

blah blah stuff that is too long to be rewritten here yabbity yabbity googly moogly and allat

embodies our collective spirit and purpose. Together, we'll strengthen our bond and champion our shared passion.
I like the idea, but what are you on bro

I don't know why I didn't recognize it right away. This is clearly written in ChatGPT's "voice". I find it rather disturbing that ChatGPT has a clearly recognizable writing style.

This is almost as disconcerting as last week when ChatGPT apparently intentionally told me a lie, then admitted it was a lie when I called it out on it. That was a shocking moment for me.

Sorry, I fail to see how much benefit this proposed change has over the existing profile pictures.

I would suggest that there are other more worthwhile or practical changes/improvements that should be given attention. For example, I suggested some time ago that searches on this forum should allow use of keywords shorter than 4 letters. I could not find anything meaningful if at all, when I searched for Moyu UV WRM V9, MGC EVO II, QY M Pro, or Gan 12 UI, or Gan 14.

(I should do a picture of Garfield in running shoes tell me what you think).
Well, didn't have the time to make that but here's something almost as good: Garfield drip. One of these must be your profile picture for a week, there are no negotiations. Dew it.

Also, I'm very sure the rest of that message was AI-generated as well.
