Actually I have been working on megaminx a lot compared to other events, but last night I just realised that actually I just need a sub 7:30 single on 7x7 to get into JP NR100, which is very achievable for me considering that I'm already globally sub 7 in 7x7. Even though I won't be able to make the cut off of 5mins to get myself a PR average in 7x7, a JP NR100 single in 7x7 would already be quite nice for me, and I believe even a sub 7 PR single in 7x7 is possible.

Very good mega average!
To be honest it isn’t really that bad for me considering that it barely places me top 100 in Japan for megaminx avg, but isn’t the best for me either.
Actually I got my first ever sub 1:30 PB Ao5 that morning:
Avg: 1:27.51
1:25.83, (1:45.29), 1:29.56, (1:24.45), 1:27.13

Outer and inner edge parity

its been a couple years since I learned from one of Kevin Hays' TUESDAY TIPs video that you don't have to do the standard edge parity alg twice to solve that case that I didn't consider it when I read your post...

you can do a variation of the edge parity alg (once) for that case:

keeping in mind that the orientation of the centermost piece of an edge is that edge's proper orientation...

instead of using Wide moves like the standard alg (first 2Rw U2 2Rw U2 2Rw' U2 and so on, then 3Rw U2 3Rw U2 and so on), you move the inner layer right next to the centermost layer of the edge (the layer you manipulate with the 3Rw moves)...

This one 3Rw inner layer is the only layer you have to use, and the mirror inner layer on the left side, with all U2's and F2's staying the same as the standard edge parity alg

It can be a bit tricky flickong just that one inner layer... I have to do the full 3Rw move and pull 2Rw back and such but it is still much better and faster than doing two full versions of the parity alg ☑️

I strongly recommend watching all of Kevin Hays' TUESDAY TIPS videos... almost all of them are on 5×5, 6×6, and 7×7 and he provides a lot of real good info (like this tip)...

worth noting, you can adjust other of the L2E algs from 5×5 to work on 6×6 and 7×7 by using such inner slice moves instead of Wide moves as I showed above, they pretty much all work out well, even if they aren't (for me) very fingertrick friendly 😎

edit: here is the link to TUESDAY TIPS 47: 7×7 Last 4 Edges
I didn't watch through the whole video just now but I think it's the one where I learned the trick I explained above:

if you see what I'm saying...
there is no double parity on 7×7

the trick is doing the alg on the layer(s) that are in a parity state

another good source, and Cuber to learn from and watch do solves on 6×6 and 7×7 with YT set to 50% playback speed (or even 25% haha)
is CIARAN BEAHAN

if you slow his solve videos down enough you can see him flicking single inner layers in algs in his solves....
for me that might not ever happen lol but you said you have kind of small hands (and your 7×7 PB is 15s faster than mine haha) so with practice you could probably get a decent handle on doing that yourself James

Ciaran is a multiple European Champion and ER holder in 6×6 and 7×7
and one of the best sources for info on big cubes Yau also btw ...
and from his own lips he also has somewhat small hands☑️

Worlds is coming in 2 weeks and I'm competing in 2x2, 3x3, skewb and pyraminx. As I will have chance to compete in 2x2, 3x3 and pyraminx as well in early September in Singapore, I'm gonna focus on skewb in worlds (but I have not practiced skewb for a long time so I will have to pick it up again)

For 2x2, my goal is to get sub 5 avg.

For 3x3, my goal is to get sub 17 avg and sub 15 single.

For skewb, my goal is to get sub 5.5 avg, which will place me into Japan NR20.

For pyraminx, my goal is to get sub 10 avg.

Are these nice NS algs?
I only know the algs for L5C Swirls, and I do HHSS for both cases.

Anyone here good at skewb..
@SkewbIsTheBestEvent
Sorry for not replying - I don't get notified if you do @, I guess I will switch that now :)

They are very good algs - Carter Kucala is WR holder, so definitely use his algs. I assume you know Advanced (I am not sure) but if you use Intermediate definitely switch. Would definitely recommend knowing full Advanced before learning NS.
