Hey, I'm planning on buying a new 3x3 soon and needed some help choosing as I don't know too much about hardware. Currently I main the RS3M 2020 and it is my only 3x3 (besides my Rubik's brand), I have had it for more than a year and I am going to my first comp soon so I think its time I got a new one.

My taste in cubes is quite weird as I loved using my DaYan GuHong V3 M (as my 2H main) for a while before it broke. I like cubes that are fast and light and don't usually have a problem with more unstable cubes, I would say my turning is quite accurate and I would like adjustable magnets and a system that can be set-up to my preference. Preferably, I don't want it to cost more than £40 but I can spend more if I have to.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I thinksomething that you could get would either be the tornado v3 flagship WRM 2021 Maglev or WRM v9

Tornado V3?

My DaYan GuHong V3 M (as my 2H main) for a while before it broke.
The DaYan Guhong V3 M has a problem with the centers wearing down. (It's a design flaw. It happens everytime you buy it so the store will definitely replace it.) Brody the cuber has a video on the problem. You should request a replacement part from the store that you bought it from

just an FYI: Brody's video was about the GuHong v4

I have most of the recently released top 3x3s, here's my input—
I had the original GuHong years ago, and I vaguley remember what it felt like. Dunno if the v3 is similar-feeling or not. What I can say is that the DaYan TengYun v3 is one of my favorite cubes, and the Thunderclap v3 feels very similar. The v3 is also extremely customizable (5 magnet settings, 5 tension settings, and 5 spring settings).

One of the other top cubes right now is the WeiLong WRM v9, which has a unique and really lovely feeling. It has very strong and unadjustable magnets, which I don't mind but many people will. It also has a corner twisting problem. However, it's still fantastic and I just love turning it. Hard to compare it to any other recent cube tbh.

Then there's the Y3M. It feels much more stable than the WRM v9, and at least with my lube and settings, more controllable. It feels like it was made by a different brand than the v9, just so different. It's not a very unique feeling, I'd say it's in the same ballpark as the Valk line, but the turns feel... "lighter" I think is a good word.

You can't go wrong with any cube though. Good luck!

edit: might as well add this, the thunderclap v3 is my current favorite of the 17 cubes I have right now. also if you're looking for a quiet cube, go with the tengyun v2, it's good to use in class :3

Honestly I think it's hard to argue against the Tornado V3 Flagship recommendations. Seems like a relatively safe bet to me.

Update on my thoughts: The V3 is now my main, and recently I got my second-ever sub-10 ao100 with it! Very very good cube, love turning it, highly recommend.
