ive been using my old main from ~2 years ago, the gan 11 m, which i dont like as much as i used to. i want a quiet and softer cube.
i immediately throught of the tengyun v1, which i can find on ebay pretty easily. have there been/are there any cubes that come close to the tengyun v1? anything i should look at?
really excited to start cubing again, and hopefully read this forum again :)

I highly recommend the X-Man Tornado V2. Very soft and quiet cube, and also more adjustable than the Tengyun. Both sell for the same price on The Cubicle.

Welcome back to cubing, I hope you have a good time here :)

Maybe you should look at some reviews of the xman tornado v2 and v3 as they are soft cubes. The moyu wrm 2021 also might be worth a go.
ive heard great things about the tornadoes, ill probably buy some of those sometime. the wrm 2021 was another cube i really wanted to buy, i really need to learn to turn more accurately so it seems like a good option since its so fast.
i found a tengyun v1 for 25$ in a local shop, ill probably pick that up because i know that that's exactly what im looking for, really surprised i could find it given its 4 years old
also, does anyone know if molykote 44 light is usable in cubes as lube? im a gamecube controller modder, and i use it to lubricate stickboxes, so i have plenty laying around. its automotive silicone grease

the TengYun v1 is a solid choice but kind of outdated
also, for the same $$ the Xman Tornado v2...

for a few bucks more you can get the Tornado v3 Flagship which is as quiet as the TengYun v1 and has better corner-cutting than v2 and it has core-corner magnets which reqlly make smooth ☑️
also it is on sale at TheCubicle.com for $27 right now since amax aoark used it to set his 3.13s WR 😎 thats the one I'd go for

The Tengyun V1 is a little bit old but it’s still a very nice cube that’s pretty quite and softer in the turning feel. It has good slices so people use it for bld.

Some cubes that I first thought of were tornado v2/v3 and moyu wrm standard/maglev. these are very smooth with the right amount of cube lube
i ended up deciding for the wrm 2021 maglev, and am wondering what lube you recomment i get along with it. does silicone grease (molykote 44 light) work to slow it down/lube it? i live in europe so traditional cube lube is craaaaazy expensive here, im not spending 15$ for 5ml of lube.

for what it's worth, I have both the Maglev WRM and the Xman Tornado v3, and while I do grab the Maglev WRM daily, the Tornado has become more of a main, it's quieter, has excellwnt corner-cutting, better stability smoother turning and does a good job without any lube... I know you said you're in Europe, so the Maglev WRM is orobably a few € cheaper ha but the Tornado v3 Flagship is a better cube...

Either way, good luck for your new cube!

Already ordered the wrmaglev, I'll see if I can get the tv3 pioneer sometime soon tho! Ive also found an original tengyun v1 in a local shop, so i might buy that first, since it's availability will only decrease

you can't go wrong with either cube, I really enjoy solving on both of them, they are both daily goto's...
if I could only get one I would opt for the Tv3 Flagship since it has core-corner magnets... (and Max just set the WR with it haha)

and congrats on the local score!
if you do go for the Tengyun you found locally, you won't regret it... if I didn't have the other 2 cubes the Tengyun v1 would still be one of my co-mains😎
side note: I did end up tightening mine over 180° per side

i use cubicle silk and gan 1 in wrm 2021, and i think silk is similar to silicone. i have never tried or bought silicone grease, but my favorite lubes in almost all cubes are 2 drops of cubicle labs silk, 2 drops of gan 1, and 1 drop of dnm37. this makes the cube slower and smoother just how i like it, but the dnm37 is just an extra bit of speed and smoothness added to the cube. though i am in the US, those lubes might be too expensive in Europe. i dont know how any other lubes feel in wrm 2021 but you can try if you like

Yeah SCS/cubicle lubes are at least 10$ for 5ml here, which i just find absurd. I'm going to get some gan/moyu lubes off AliExpress so i can use them when I'm back from vacation, and I'll also try some molykote 44 light in my meilong 3m. I'll make sure to document that. I've always found cubing lubes to feel like they're a bit of a scam, they can't be so special they're worth that much for that little, especially since I've been an outsider for so long. Never tried any of them tho so what do i know lol
If the molykote 44 light i have ends up working, that would be huge, since it's only 25-30$ for 150g.
Also, what's everyone's experience with buying cubes on aliexpress? Tengyun V1s are going for like 20$ including shipping there, so if they're legit I'll probably get one from there

I was thinking buy a relatively quiet cube and lube it with a gummy lube to ‘soften’ it
