How hard is it to learn to solve these cubes?

2x2 is super easy to learn how to do but if you want to really fly on it you need to learn a more advanced method so of which have lots of algos.

Mine sat on the shelf after I solved it a few times using 3x3 corners method; I use ortega now and find that the 2x2 is lots of fun to do and challenging to get seriously low time solves.

Megaminx is easy but I find it hard on my hands after a while.

4x4 is a fun puzzle to speedcube and pretty easy to learn....bit harder to get a really fluid edges progress so it is worth practicing.

Square one I haven't got yet.

Pyraminx is kinda a joke to me and does not really have the potential of the 2x2 for fun fast solves. Pyraminx is the one I give to people and say, "Just turn it and eventually you wil solve it".

Sq1: Bad if you want to ambidextrous. Unless you feeling like mirroring all your algs and do / as L2 every other solve.

Pyraminx: simple and fun.

4x4: not as simple and fun.

2x2: fast and boring.

I suggest square-1, if you can do OLL and PLL
4x4 I you cant

What? OLLs can't exist for Sq1 and you might be able to some PLLs only if you use U, D, R2 algs for PLL.

alright then i'm probably going to get a megaminx because i'm too lazy to learn square 1 and 4x4, and you guys said 2x2 is simple so yea..also how hard is it to learn the last layer of the megaminx.

rate it on this scale:

how hard is it to learn a rubik's cube 3x3 1-10

compared to

how hard it is to learn the last layer of megaminx 1-10(btw i know how to do f2l fridrich so the 1st 2 layers should'nt be a problem.)

how hard it is to learn the last layer of megaminx 1-10(btw i know how to do f2l fridrich so the 1st 2 layers should'nt be a problem.) 5. There are some algs you may know form 3x3 and the LL involves 4 steps; EO, CO, EP, and CP. EO and EP uses familiar algs from the 3x3 algs. There are more cases to learn, but even I don't know them. CO is the hardest to learn because there are many cases. CP is the easiest step.

Hope that helped.

o ok just wondering. btw are those the only things you need to learn for the last layer?

yes..essentially, you need to know:
FRUR'U'F'
FURU'R'F'
Sune: RUR'URU2R'
Antisune: RU2R'U'RU'R'
2 algorithms: each mirrors to orient the corners: RUR'U' and URU'R'
and then commutators to finish it off..each are 3 turns so yea...all in all you need to know 8 algorithms...4 you should already know, 2 are 4 turns each, and 2 are 3 turns each.. all in all..very simple
