The Pi Cube Premium Core-magnetic DaYan Megaminx v2 M has now become my new main. The magnets are just perfect not being too strong to hinder the turning, while being strong enough to keep it stable without flexing too much. Need some breaking in tho
Why is picubeshop so good? Aren’t they going to lose money by giving such good prices

Why not wait for the DianSheng Teraminx M🤔

My Yuxin gigaminx turns really nice and smoothly, and I can solve it pretty quickly. The Diansheng keeps catching and locking up, it's a nice cube but for the price and the magnets it should be a whole lot better than it is.

After a week of doing solves on the Diansheng I've gone back to the Yuxin. It's a better gigaminx. I don't want it to be, I wanted the magnets and concave gigaminx to be amazing, but it's not. I love the look of the Diansheng and that it's magnetized but I prefer the feel and the functionality of the Yuxin.

Imo the Yuxin is just a better speedcube. It functions better. The magnets do almost nothing on the Diansheng. If it's locking up and catching on U moves all the time then they're not keeping things aligned and they're not really serving their purpose.

I don't get catching and lockups on the Yuxin; at all.

Moyu going to release new cubes soon is most likely a fact. They do not have any modern top performing cubes. I like my WRM Maglev, but the Pioneer series really took over the top spot - at same price levels. And the existings Moyus can't really compete.

It is great we see so much "innovation"/"evolution". And interesting to see how quickly modern cubes becomes dated. And how the marget shifts. Currently we seems to have YJ owning 2x2, 4x4..7x7, megaminx, QiYi Tornado for the 3x3, and Moyu has been displaced - despite them making great cubes. Even GAN is getting sidelined with their high prices, and cubes that are not that great for everybody. Having 4 big players is great. And moyu is still big in other markets than the current leading flagship. They have great budget options.

YJ big cubes are no longer the best imo, except for zhilong mini 4x4 and mgc 5x5. YJ 2x2, square-1 and megaminx are still at the top as well tho. Not sure if they will release an mgc skewb to complete the mgc lineup.

For QiYi, their 3x3 is kind of the most popular cube at least for now. Some of their side events puzzles are pretty good too, especially for clock. QiYi clock is by far the best clock on the market. I personally main the Volt v2 Square-1 as well as the Bell v2 Pyraminx, but as I’m not really serious in square-1 as well as pyraminx, don’t think this too seriously. Their big cubes was arguably the best before mgc, but as for now there is wrm line from moyu already, qiyi big cubes are just pricey and outdated. Looking forward to the X-Man Rainbow 5x5 tho. Valk 2 was a game changer but as it’s been discontinued already, I’m not gonna discuss about it here.

For GAN, only skewb I can tell is by far the best skewb on the market. I main a UV GAN Skewb and skewb is one of my main events so I can confidently tell that GAN skewb is the best on the market at least for now. However, for their 2x2 and 3x3, those maybe arguably one of the best on the market, but this may differ depending on personal preferences. Hope their square-1 can change the market like their skewb did.

For moyu, they are dominating the top tier big cube market like from 5x5 up to 7x7. Their latest 3x3s are at the top as well, especially the wrm v9.

For dayan, their megaminx is definitely one of the best if not the best on the market, at least its my main where I am a serious intermediate megaminxer. The other like 2x2, 3x3 and 5x5 was popular at some point, but I don’t think these are the best as for now, even though I mained all these at some point.

For DianSheng, Yuxin and ShengShou, these are pretty much irrelevant already. The ylm pyraminx is still my backup main as for now, but due to the Quality Control issues, I don’t think it can be considered as the best pyraminx on the market right now. ShengShou clock is the 2nd best clock as for now, but it isn’t even close to qiyi tbh. DianSheng is playing an important role in non-WCA big cubes market, but unfortunately not for WCA hardware.

Cyclone boys is very outdated already. Even though their skewb was my very first magnetic puzzle (even before magnetic 3x3), it’s just a budget puzzle and nowhere near to the performance of the GAN Skewb. Cyclone boys’ Skewb is already the best WCA puzzle by cyclone boys already imo, but no one really uses it seriously as for now already.

Lastly an interesting one here, MoreTry, a new cube brand by former MGC chief designer. I mained their 3x3 at some point and I really like it, and seems they are releasing a new 2x2 very soon. As the CEO of MoreTry Cube has designed some very nice 2x2s before including the original mgc 2x2 and the mgc elite, I really have high hope on this one.

Yuxin isn;t completely out of the picture, the Little Magic series are good budget cubes (I have the 3x3 and 4x4, and am eyeing some others), plus they have the best hardware in Master Pyraminx (have it), Redi Cube, and Gigaminx.

Then there's LanLan, which is kind of a joke. You only buy LanLan puzzles if there's literally no other option. See: FTO, Curvy Copter. If anyone else made a better FTO or Curvy Copter I am happy for them to take my money.

I wonder if any flagship Pyraminx might come out soon. There hasn't been any top pyras come out (other than the MGC Evo) in quite some time.

2 months ago at the Shenzhen Toy Fair, DianSheng showed off a new pyraminx, but gave no info on it, so no idea if it will be flagship or not.

My guess is that it won't be a flagship. They haven't really had any products that beat their competitors. Their most successful cubes were magnetized higher-order cubes, and even still, the non-magnetized ones (like the Yuxin Gigaminx) have been about the same quality, if not better.

I have done like 10 solves on my Pi Cube Premium Core-magnetic DaYan Megaminx v2 M and it is a lot more broken in already. Their setup is really amazing, fast, smooth and controllable. I tried to stack tiny 2*1 N35 magnets on the corners of a stock dayan megaminx, but it just feel bumpy while not really helping it to be more stable and controllable. The core magnets by Pi Cube really makes sense as the magnets are noticeably stronger doing it’s job very well to keep it stable, while the magnets don’t really feel bumpy. Its on the stronger side but not really too strong, and doing its job really well.

I really wish they would release a kit to allow those of us who already have a Dayan V2 to convert it to have corner core magnets. I'd love to have a corner core magnetized version of this mega, but can't justify the price on the US site for it when I already have a pretty new Dayan with black face swap.

Yuxin Teraminx came in. It's nice, very much like the Gigaminx just larger. It's the same size as the Shengshou Teraminx. Smooth turning and all, just like the Gigaminx.

A core magnets kit for dayan megaminx is out here already, its like $30 here with free premium shipping.
$40 with black pieces installed and free premium shipping
But imo why not just pay $8 more to have a premium setup core magnetic dayan megaminx, as well as $2 more to have black pieces pre installed?!

However as I understand some cubers outside Asia are paying like double or triple for the same puzzle, and my guess is that the price of a core magnets kit for dayan megaminx would be like around $70US outside Asia.

Not sure if it would be out on cubezz or zii cube, if so will probably be like around $50US, like nearly a double. I think the only point for me to order from those sites is that the shipping is real quick, especially cubezz. I ordered a 2x2 last week from cubezz and it arrived the next day. Maybe that’s why their cubes are more expensive. I just don’t really understand why the DianSheng Gigaminx M or the YuXin Teraminx M are like around $40 on those sites, where these are just like $25 here. Unless I’m in a rush to get the cube in a day, I won’t order from those sites as the prices are like nearly a double and I can get the same thing from Pi Cube with free premium shipping which usually arrives in 3 days.

On the English version of their site, the corner core magnetized Dayan is $95 right now, on sale for 10% off list price of $105. Even with their 40% discount code and the cheapest shipping option to the US that's $63.10 for the megaminx, and they don't offer the black piece swap or setup on the core magnetic version on the English site. They don't offer that core magnet kit on the English version of the site yet either, so I thought they didn't sell it as a kit at all. 🤷 Ah well, I'll quit wasting this thread on things that aren't new puzzles and let us get back on topic

If you already have the puzzle and black caps, no reason to buy the whole cube again.
Who's selling the core magnet kit for it?

I see Picubeshop is also selling Weilong and RS pyraminx and skewb with core magnets. I'd like to see core magnet kits for those, too.

They don’t state the cost for having black pieces pre installed on their local site either, its just a verbal agreement and you can just add back remarks into your order afterwards.
Like The Cubicle seems to have 3x3 core-magnet kits from Maru and CH as well, and now it’s abt the first core-magnetic megaminx kit, how exciting is that

Pi Cube themselves. Not sure why but actually the Pi Cube Premium core magnets YJ YuHu v2 M is only available on their English site at the moment. But the core magnets kits for the moyu pyras and skewbs are just out here for $11 per kit. I have just ordered a set of weilong skewb core-magnet kit and hope it works well like the dayan mega. I think it makes a lot more sense for me to install core magnets for a skewb compared to a megaminx, I just need to install the core magnets into 4 corners instead of 20. Also I know better on setting up a skewb compared to megaminx, and my weilong skewb has custom weak maglev rings instead and it works way better than the regular maglev rings. Hope my weilong skewb core-magnet kit would work well with mine with weak maglev rings.

Also, I have heard that the core magnets of weilong pyraminx are just overly strong and make it too stable. I suck at pyra so I can’t really say anything about it tho. Also it’s worth mentioning that for the RS Pyraminx and YJ YuHu Megaminx, the core-magnet kits won’t be available due to the original mechanism of the puzzle. The core-magnet kit for weilong skewb, weilong pyra as well as rs skewb are $11 directly from local Pi Cube site. Will probably be like around $25 on their international site.

Moyu is the leader in 6x6 and 7x7 and, for a lot of people, 4x4 and 5x5. Their YS3M and Weilong v9 are also quite popular.

Dayan is the best mega though lots of people do use the Yuhu.
