Getting Jayden McNeill On Speedsolving FMC Comps

He competed a few weeks ago and said the following:
'IMO it would be a lot nicer if it was possible to copy paste the scramble and to also display an image of the scramble when you start the timer. Having to manually re-type the scramble for the purpose of generating an image, as well as doing post analysis in NISSY is really annoying

I'd be more interested in doing the FMC weekly if this were changed in some way'

Same, dude. FMC is really cool. (I'm still working on a solution for a scramble I generated a few weeks ago lol).

True, lets find a way to help change that

Well, I made a comment in my result that week
and he told me in his answer to my PM that he had forgotten that there is this kind of easier approach.
I think we can't do really more ...

Fwiw I'm very active on the Facebook fewest moves group weekly, and somewhat active on the cubers.io weekly if you want to find more of my solutions (though I'm thinking of stopping my participation in the cubers.io weekly since the scrambles feel somehow easier than many other scrambles, though I don't know how or why this could be happening)

I do still hope someday to provide the scramble images, but that will take time I haven't had lately. It has been on my list of things to try to do for years now; someday I do still hope to add it.

And now that he has requested an easy way to copy the scramble directly from the timer page, I might try to provide it. It would be much easier than providing the actual images, so I might realistically get to that later this year.

Would it be that bad if the scramble is shown before starting the timer? Maybe this could be implemented quite easily. So everyone who wants to copy it can copy it. Or do we have to be afraid that someone takes advantage of it? I'm only medium-class at FMC but I can't imagine that I could get interesting information just from seeing the scramble.
If someone wants to look at the scramble before for more information to cheat, then it is already possible.

It’s an online forum comp working on the honesty policy. If people were gonna cheat they would already do it

I think the concern is less of outright cheating, and more of accidentally giving yourself an unfair advantage (or at least thinking that you'd given yourself an unfair advantage).
The person I quoted directly mentioned cheating, so that was what I addressed. But yeah you definitely can pull useful info from seeing the scramble net, such as EO and if there are any existing blocks.

What do you mean by "scramble net" (sorry, I'm not a native english speaker), the written scramble or the image?

My idea was only to show the R' U' F ... R' U' F before - like any scramble elsewhere in the comp (ok, except speed FMC) and not the image (which I think is much harder to implement, but I'm not a native programmer, too :D).

If there really is an easy way to get information to blocks or EO from the written scramble this would be interesting for me. Not to use it for cheating, but to learn more about cubing "theory". Let me give you an example when doing it blind: if the scramble has an odd number of 90°-moves, then you'll have parity. I wouldn't use this fact to select from the 70 scrambles in multibld, but if I had to handscramble a cube for someone who wants to practise parity I would be your man ;)
