What I am curious about from experts is the time to 1-look vs. the number of moves to make the face.
i.e. for me around
1-move face = 3 seconds to 1-look
2-move face = 7 seconds to 1-look
3-move face = 16 seconds to 1-look
4-move face = 25 seconds to 1-look
5-move face = 1+ minute

I assume the time to 1-look for experts also depends on the number of moves to make the face?
i can onelook any 5 moves and below sub 3, and yes the time it takes increases as the number of moves to make the face increases

Since I use LMCF-H on 3x3 my goal is to 1-look the corners + FL & BL edges (creating an H on the left side). Another way to think of it is Roux first block (minus DL edge), plus all the corners, using CLL & LEG1 (you could also use TCLL+/-). Almost all the LEG1 algorithms do not 'harm' Roux first block (from my original set of 40 LEG1 algorithms I think only 4 damaged first block so I picked different options which didn't). If anyone here is good at block building and 2x2, I would be greatly thankful if you could try to pick up a 3x3, and try (in 15 seconds), to 1-look the corners plus Roux-FB (minus DL), and see how long it takes you. It is possible that after your corners alg, it breaks the first block, that is irrelevant for the experiment. Part of Roux-FB can usually be solved by changing the 3-moves to make your face with wide moves, and/or injecting M/E/S moves into the face building that do not affect the corners solution. Some critics in the new method thread think it is nearly impossible to 1-look the corners plus 2 edges, I disagree, if someone like Nigel can 1-look a 5-move corner solution in 3 seconds, there is more than enough time to 1-look corners + 2 edges. Let me know the result if you try my experiment. This is fairly significant because by one looking 10 pieces in the inspection, that is essentially the CFOP equivalent of doing an XXXcross on EVERY solve (which I don't think even Tymon can do).

Another question I have for the top 2x2 solvers is that when 1-looking, you only need to predict 3 top corners to know the full case, if you are 'good' at case recognition from any 3 of the 4 corners which is always possible. Question is, do top 2x2 solvers 'look-ahead' all 4 top corners or only 3?

And, when trying to 1-look I am slowed down by the fact that I 'forget' the stickers of the 1st corner by the time I predict the 3rd corner. Do top solvers use some sort of BLD memorization trick or just try to hold the image of all the stickers in your mind.

for me i just trace 3 unless it is a sune/antisune case where i need 4, and i trace all 3 at once (sort of) which requires a lot of practice a lot knowledge of different faces and how they move pieces

2 comps in 2 weekends coming up yay so i'm gonna list my goals

2x2: sub 1 single, sub 1.4 avg (or at least break NR lol)
sub 1 single isn't very unrealistic, considering in a 150 solve session i got 31 sub 1s so getting one in comp shouldn't be TOO hard
also let's talk about how many sub 1s i've missed
NTU welcome 2023 finals solve 4 (missed 7 mover, sol was U R' F R2 U R' U)
singapore champs finals solve 3 (missed 6 mover, sol was U' F' R U' R' U2)
yjkl round 2 solve 4 (1.07+2, couldve been sub 1 if layer exec was better and no +2)
uosm cube day 2023 round 1 solve 1 (1.21 7 mover, ez sub 1 without lockups
uosm cube day 2023 finals solve 1 (1.24, missed 6 mover, sol was R' F R' F R2 U'

3x3: idc single but PR2 avg
PR avg is 9.82 which is pretty insane and my home PB rn is 9.60, but PR2 is 11.16 which should be quite doable with nice scrams
i've got too many good singles officially to even care about it lol

4x4: idc single but PR avg
PR single is overall PB (42.66), and PR avg is 55.89 which wouldn't be too easy to beat but should be doable

3x3 oh: um idc, just don't choke ig

triangle: PR average, current PR has been standing for way too long
today i also got a PB avg of 3.07 with a counting 2.05 yay

skewb: break my NR avg (2.98)
for single, i'll just hope for a nice sledge/hedge last layer and get my long-awaited sub 2 single, but i'm fine if i don't get it lol

clock: sub 9 avg
been practicing quite a bit, ao100 rn is 10.2 so with a little bit more practice sub 9 official is doable (let's hope for no nerves!)

megamixn: PR avg
like pyraminx, PR avg has been standing for too long so i should try and get it, idk how easy it is tho lol

squan: idc at all pointless event and i'm like not even sub 20 now theres nothing to aim for

5x5: PR avg
PR avg is 2:04 and i'm sure i'm capable of doing better than that (and in my 2:04 avg i had like 3 mess ups so it should've been like sub 2 lmfao)
single is 1:52 (i have 2 of those officially!) which would be nice to beat, but like it won't be too easy

Nigel, you are very fast, you will get WR in a few years for sure.
Don't worry, you will get a sub-2 skewb single, took me a long time too.
