First off, I'd like everyone to stay civil. This post is meant to put truth out, not meant to put shame on the other party. I ask that you do not spam. Please forgive all parties after this discussion is finished. Thank you.

Recently, a member known as @Luke Solves Cubes has been improving rapidly. That's normal, so props to him for his improvement. Where it gets fuzzy are his insanely fast singles. He has never been able to reconstruct a single one of his good singles, always finding one excuse or the other. "I didn't save the scramble". "I'm not good at reconstructing solves."

Have you ever seen someone who averages 12-13 seconds get a 5 second solve? Someone who averages 9-10 seconds get a 3.56? No. It's simply too far.

And now, he released a video of his 4.74 3x3 solve.

Look at 0:01. He finishes the scramble. From there he proceeds to pre-solve multiple pairs and undo the cross by 1-move, essentially making him a 1-move xxx-cross.

He then proceeds to solve his last layer and one pair in 4.74 seconds and acts like it is a completely real solve. And he proceeds to UPLOAD this to Youtube and act like no one will find it.

I also believe that the scramble was a "cross solved" scramble as I didn't see him solve any cross edges when turning before inspection, only pairs.

If you have been faking solves, @Luke Solves Cubes, I forgive you. And I think most of us will. Just don't do it again and take it as a lesson to be honest.

I was thinking this too but I as a 18 second solver I didn't want to say anything. I started to feel a little suspicious when he when from a 5 single (which I believed ) to a 3 single ( which I found suspicious) in a very short amount of time. He also doesn't provide a scramble in his video description. I agree and if he is faking I forgive him and I hope it will never happen again. @Luke Solves Cubes if you were faking I hope you learn from this experience.

It does seem a bit suspicious. When it's already scrambled, he is applying a lot of moves to it, that by itself isn't enough evidence, but the fact that there is no scramble/recon on any of these solves is. It also appears (correct me if I'm wrong, because I very well might be) that he's using cstimer, which saves scrambles.

I agree 100%.

When the video first starts, he appears to be inspecting the cube. Then he applies multiple moves to the cube, then sets the cube down and immediately starts the timer, without any further inspection.
Yeah, it looks like he solved at least the cross before starting the timer, if not more.

He only solved 1-2 pairs during the actual solve.

My current theory is that he did a "cross solved" scramble on csTimer and then solved 2-3 pairs when doing the moves.

Edit: If you look at the scramble, it seems to be a 2 move xxx-cross, clearly set up.

Yep, it's very obvious he was making lots of moves after inspection and before starting the timer.

Yeah, that's faking it.

I can confirm it's legit.
I had a sub4 solve in 2010 when my friend hand scrambled the cube.
If he can't count that solve, I can't count mine.
Did you see the video of his 4.74? He clearly did moves before the solve.

I wouldn't even count that, it's a HAND scramble. Not a real, official, legal scramble.
So don't count yours.

it is a little strange, but it's not like it's an official time or anything so no harm done if it's fake

but i guess we shouldnt stand for lying about times, if it is fake, im not taking sides rn

Maybe he is faking, and I agree faking is bad, but I don't see how/why we are fit to "forgive" him. It feels like "You know, we can totally discard you or condemn you but hey we are kind enough to forgive you, so you can still join us". I don't like how we position ourselves this way.

True, it's not official, but if he does it for yt videos, where else does he do it?
I just checked, and he does compete in the weekly forum competition.

He has cheated in Speed FMC, Mirror Blocks, and Megaminx in the weekly comp before.

I'm not trying to put it that way. I am saying that if he is faking, I can forgive him. I am not trying to make me seem better or more fit.

You know, Feliks faked some times when he was a beginner, he apologised and everyone forgave him and now he is the best solvers of all time, so who's to say luke should never be taken seriously just because he made a few mistakes. I think the solves are definitely fake but if he apologises I think he should be able stay in the community.

That's what I'm trying to say.
