Hello, I’ve recently joined this forum. and thought I’d give a tiny introduction. I’ve been cubing since very late August of 2022.

My current events are 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, Square-1, and pyraminx, although I barely even touch my pyraminx, I find it kinda boring.

Although I don’t want to bore anyone, here’s what I average on each event:

2x2: ~4-5 seconds. I just learned CLL, and I’ve got to practice that a bunch 😅 PB is 1.24 seconds. (5 mover). Hoping to get sub-3 after enough practice with CLL. Current main is a Gan 249 v2

3x3: I average Very low 16s - 15 seconds. PB is 9.63. Eyeing sub-15 average. Current main is an X-man Tornado V2. Love that thing.

4x4: Started recently, about 2 months ago, don’t practice much, so I average about 1:23 minutes. PB is 1:01.46. Main is a MGC 4X4

Squan: Started about 1-2 weeks ago. I average about 1 minute 25 on that, got my PB yesterday; 38.54 seconds. Main is a YJ MGC square-1, although I wish I could have gotten a Volt V2 instead. Really good squan nonetheless though.

And pyraminx: Last time I actually did an average was at my first and only comp back in December, and I got a PB Ao5 of 16-ish seconds. PB is 6 secs. Main is some QiYi pyraminx or something.

Sorry for the long introduction; never done one of these before. Hoping to make some good friends Here! Any and every advice for any event is appreciated :p

Welcome! You'll def be able to get sub3 with CLL on 2x2 with enough practice, esp if you can start 1-looking the solve. For square-1, the MGC is the current best square-1 in terms of performance, so you would've been worse off with the Volt. Also consider the Lin method for square-1.

Oh, fun! I annoyingly bought mine just a few weeks before the V3 came out. The V2 is the best cube I’ve tried so far though.
I wouldn't stress about it too much, I've tried the V3 and I personally still prefer the V2.
And ditto, it's also my favorite cube I've tried over the couple years I've been cubing :)

Sorry for the late reply; didn’t get notified 😅

I know I’ll have to (eventually) one look the solve, but 1-looking seems so incredibly hard, least for now.

I’ve enever heard of the Lin method, how does it work?

It’s similar to 3x3 Roux. The beginner method is cubeshape, FB on the bottom left, SB and DB on the bottom right, CPDF to solve the last D edge and solve the U layer corners, then EPLL.

No offense, I have no clue what all those mean 😅

I dunno if the method I use is the beginner one, I just learned from this tutorial:

So, basically, cube shape, solve top & bottom colors, orient edges, and "PLL".
