Hey folks,
Mason's the name and I'm a brand new Cuber, only about 4 weeks old in the hobby but I'm an "old geezer" as TNL says about Tingman.
As the title says I'm in Brisbane Australia and have signed up for 3x3 at the Brisbane Summer 2023 comp in a few days.
My fiancé bought a very crappy Duncan Cube to fidget with during work downtime. I have been involved in cubing adjacent hobbies such as Competitive TCG's and skilltoys like Yo-Yo's for most of my life. As such, had many friends that were casually into cubing and would always have one with them. However, it wasn't until there was a cube in my house that I actually tried to solve one properly.
Like everyone learning these days, I learned the beginner method on Youtube. The moment I could solve the cube without watching the video anymore, I was hooked. Once I realised just how much I enjoyed cubing, I immediately abandoned the beginner method and learned intuitive F2L and 4-look last layer.
I'm still super slow and my aim is to get below 60 seconds consistently before the upcoming comp in a weeks time. I think the biggest time save at the moment will be improving my F2L as I'm just intuiting it at the moment.
Got my first proper speedcube a few days ago in the form of the XMan Tornado V3. I have only a garbage cube to compare it to but it feels amazing to me lol.
