i dont think anyone is this fast with the beginner method
I was, but then I realized that it is stupid and I should learn F2L. It took a long time to get as good, though, because I was so used to the beginner method.

I suggest just learning F2L then giving yourself a goal to not do any beginner method solves for the next x days. Then keep going like this until you are as good as you were before with F2L.

Great advice - thank you! How quick did you get with the beginner method?

And just got an 18.75 using F2L!

For the last 100 solves or so, I've just been forcing myself to use F2L, even though it's making my solves wildly inconsistent. Honestly wish I sacrificed my times short-term a long time ago for the long-term pay-off.
I agree, it is better to focus on long term pay-offs.

Go F2L drilling!

I've done ~300 solves using a terrible, incomplete version of F2L now. I average around 38 seconds using that - so a fair bit off my usual average, but I can see progress.

I'll probably switch between this and the beginner method a little bit before my first comp.

First comp on Sunday. Have gone back to beginner method for now just to prepare. Averaging around 22 seconds still.

Honestly just hoping not to DNF the average, as have never used a Stackmat or competed under any sort of pressure/expectation. Would be happy with a sub-30 average for the first time.

Don't even know what cube I'll use lol. I guess my regular main (GAN Mini), but have been loving the Super RS3M and Tornado V3 over the last few days.

Also picked up the 2x2 for the first time in a million years (never use it). Averaging like 15 seconds. Using the same sort of beginner method but for corners only, I guess.

My main goals for the comp are just to enjoy it enough to warrant going again, not DNF averages, and have a nice time.

~24 average and ~21 single in both rounds. A bit but not heaps worse than at home, so I guess that's fine!

Happy to get the first comp done. Was enjoyable!

Basically no progress on the CFOP front, to be honest. I'm not learning algs - just trying to get more comfortable with F2L intuitively - and I'm getting there slowly, but have really inefficient solutions for a lot of cases. Might need to target those specific cases.

Anyway, I have my second ever comp coming up soon. Main goal is just to have a nice time. It would be a bonus to get PRs closer to at-home averages, but it'll be nice just to be involved, I hope!

P.S. Was using beginner method again against better judgement, but got what I think must be PB2 single the other day (12.xx), unless my memory is failing me.

22 average, 17 single at comp. Happy with that.
