Looking for cube recommendations

Hey guys,

I have bought a normal Cube for 3 euros and then a GAN 356M one.
I am pretty happy with the GAN cube and I guess GAN 12 would be the one that could bring much difference in quality, but are there any other brands that one would recommend that offer cubes at the level of GAN 356M or above (near Gan 12)?

I am looking for a new cube that I could add to the collection. One that could offer something new (even if it is just a little bit of a difference in quality).

Thank you.

I’m a fan of the bluetooth cubes. They’re great for figuring out what part of your solve to work on.

Bluetooth? That sounds way too high-tech. Which brand does them? How do they work? An app monitors how you solve the cube?

Surely 30 seconds on youtube could answer all these questions?

My tl;dr would be: Monster GO AI if you're on a budget, or GAN i3 or Moyu AI if not; the Monster GO AI is made by GAN and uses their app and the Moyu AI app is terrible but the cube is good. Then use cubeast for solving / solve analysis. Some day my OSS project will be ready for use but don't hold your breath.

Yes. Like Osric said, bluetooth cubes are very cool to keep track of records, analyze weaknesses...
They show you time, number of moves algs you used... for every step.
The GAN Cubes have also nice algorithm trainiers where you can follow the pictures until the alg is in your muscle memory.

But they are not tournament legal. If you plan do go at some competitions you should get a different one. (in addition 😋 )
The best bluetooth cube i have tested is the GAN i3, but the GAN iCarry is also quite good and much cheaper.

For the normal cube there are tons of other threads in this subforum. I think you should read these

Maybe this video can show you the advantages:

Dont call me Shirley. :)

See...how would YouTube tell me in an instant that the MoYu app is rubbish. They review things and just want to sell things.
Thank you bro.

Thank you. The Gan 356 i carry looks pretty darn good and that is definitely a budget cube.

I don’t have a smart cube, but they have their advantages. One thing to bear in mind when choosing is that the MGAi and the I Carry don’t have motion sensors so they don’t track rotations. That is part of the reason why they are cheaper, besides the addition of the disposable batteries. So if rotating during solves is a problem you might want an upgrade on those cubes

I’d go for the Gan i3 or Moyu ai - the others are all rubbish. The iCarry is terrible - magnets way too strong and it catches like a mother#%$$#.

I replaced it with the Moyu ai and haven’t looked back - just my 2p :p

* just to say : I like my cubes with very light magnets and fast turning - the iCarry simply cannot be set up like that whereas the Moyu can. In fact my main is the Wrm 2021 maglev and the Moyu ai feels just like it. I expect the Gan i3 is as good but I don’t have one. The iCarry was a huge disappointment for me as the replaceable battery is a great idea, it just sucks as a speedcube - honestly my v1 little magic feels nicer.

Maybe it's because I'm nowhere near as fast as Foreright but I don't think the iCarry is so horrible. It does lack the gyro but for the price it is a pretty good cube; I feel the same way about the Monster Go AI which has a slightly cheaper feel.

It is true that the Moyu is a really nice cube and the i3 is also very good. But they are more than double the price and you can still get a lot of the value of a bluetooth cube out of the cheaper options.

On the subject of bluetooth cubes, there is also the Gan 12 UI, which is already out in China and will supposedly soon be available globally. I haven't tried it, but it looks like a major upgrade from the Gan i3.

very underrated

No idea why everyone love Gan, MoYu, and Qiyi but hardly anyone mentions DaYan. DaYan make fantastic cubes.
