Prior to NE Champs today, the sq-1 WR was 6.06 seconds by Sameer Aggarwal. Both Max Siauw and Sameer were competing in sq-1 in this comp and performed exceptionally well.

Result link round 2: https://live.worldcubeassociation.org/competitions/1038/rounds/15399 (5.82 average)
Result link round 3 (Current WR): https://live.worldcubeassociation.org/competitions/1038/rounds/15400 (5.02 and 5.59 averages)
He first got 5.82 average in round 2 which he crushed later on by getting an average 0.8 seconds fast in the third round.
Sameer Aggarwal also got sub-former WR average in round 3, but not as fast in Max's round 3 average. Keaton and Lucas Etter vibes haha!

Congrats Max and Sameer!

Time list: 5.23 9.73 4.97 4.84 4.86
Former WR 5.82 average time list: 4.80 6.42 4.91 6.20 6.34

Amazing average! Almost Sub-5!

Scrambles must have been very good because Sameer Aggarwal got a 5.59 average in that round which would have been WR if it had happened 2 hours earlier.

Were the scrambles simply really easy? Or is it just Max Siauw and Sameer Aggarwal are squan gods? Because the squan average just improved by more than a second.

I was in the middle of a 3x3 warm-up solve when I heard shouting and clapping from the red stage. Cool thing to actually be there for. Amazing solves!

I mean, there are only 8 people in the world with sub-5 squan singles (if you count by results there's 10), and Max Siauw just got 5 sub-5 solves in NE champs. So if you add these up with his old sub-5s, he has 7/15 sub-5 solves out of ALL sub-5 solves. That's nearly half.

@gsingh I edited my 5.82 post to 5.02, which makes this post as a duplicate. Can you send a merge request to merge few of the posts here with the main WR post.

To put into reference how insane this is, we were questioning who or when the first sub 6 average would be, and here’s almost a sub 5. On top of that, 10 people have a single faster than this. Only 10. Heres an example. So Tymon and Max Park are at the same comp. (In this sense, Max Park is Sameer and Tymon is Max Siauw). So Max holds the wr average, and then Tymon just gets a 4.82 average. Later, Tymon out of nowhere gets a 4.02 average, and then Max, on those scrambles, gets a 4.56 average. This is one of the most insane achievements ever. I hope I don’t eat my own words today after Max Siauw gets a sub 5 average, but I think that this will be beaten in over 3 years. At least by a person other than Max Siauw.
