CFOP-Breaker? Mehta method

Hey all!
It’s been a while on this thread since most of the developments have been happening in the discord. If you’re interested in how things have progressed, feel free to join the server with the invite like somewhere on this thread.
The main purpose of making this post was to showcase this amazing video by @Cuberstache.
Also maybe have a look at this commentary by @ottozing.
Happy cubing!

I guess I'll link this here since it's a Mehta variant.
Cool idea.
The current algs can definitely be drastically be improved, and there’ll be fewer than 25 cases; you’re double counting some of them.
I’m very skeptical of the recognition, it’s worth considering only if there’s even a remotely acceptable recog system.

Recog is quite easy. You just would recognize the COLL case, and know which CP that COLL corresponds to, and recognize the EO case, which should be pretty straightforward as well.

Oh right, I missed that we need to do DCAL before CPEO. Also explains the long algorithms.
In this case, my question becomes - ‘How does this provide any benefits over the CDRLL variation?’
CDRLL has a more standard recognition than CPEO and better algs; and L5EP is arguably better than 2GLL in almost all aspects. This also has more algs and cannot fit well into the OS system. Also CDRLL leads more naturally to TDR which is objectively superior for OH solving.

I agree

The 2GLL+1 variant actually solves 2GLL+DR edge(basically CDRLL+L5EP in 1 alg).
Isn't a 1-alg system better than a 2-alg system?

This also has more algs and cannot fit well into the OS system.
I wanted it to be a variant of its own though, like TDR. Although you can do regular CDRLL/JTLE OS if you find all your edges oriented at the end of DCAL.

and there’ll be fewer than 25 cases
Umm yeah but its just one less. There's 12 cases for DR oriented(3 line+6 L+3 dot) and 12 more(6 arrow+6 1/1) for DR misoriented) which equals 24?

‘How does this provide any benefits over the CDRLL variation?’
A nicer, 2 gen finish and the absence of EOLE?(which imo isn't that great for OH(yeah, I tried genning algs for it, they weren't that great)

The current algs can definitely be drastically be improved,
I agree.

On a sidenote, my Mehta OH OS algsheet v1 is complete. You can comment to suggest better algs.
