I am doing a project for school where I teach underprivileged kids how to solve the Rubiks cube:

In order to be successful in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), one must be good at critical and logical thinking. Cubing not only helps to greatly strengthen this, but it also helps increase memory, patience, and concentration. 21% of kids in the USA live below the poverty line, with this percentage increasing as many refugees coming to the country. Many of these kids are having a hard time seeing the end of the tunnel as they look forward to their careers. When I was first learning to solve the cube, I got stuck on the middle layer, and I thought I was never going to be able to solve it. Now I can solve the cube in under 30 seconds. I want to share that exhilaration with others and show others that anything is possible.

This connects to the UNICEF global goals because it will hopefully reduce the number of children in poverty dropping out of school and improve stem performance. This will help to improve good health, quality education, and help eliminate poverty.

We are currently in the funding stage of our project. The cost to teach one child is only $3. This covers one Speedcube (mailing) and a folder including physical and online resources. We are planning on teaching 3x3 to kids ages 7 and up, and 2x2 to ages 6 and below. Currently, this is just a local project for kids in Austin, Texas, and nearby. However, if the results are successful, we may expand to help more kids.
If you are interested in donating, please PM me. Donate whatever you can to make a big difference!

I will post updates here.

Could I help spread this project to Washington state? A lot of people here would benefit from this project.
That would be wonderful, please let me know how you intend to promote us, so I can possibly help out!

Im interested, in what you have done so far. Comprehensible reports about your work could convince me.

Till now I have only seen declarations of intent.
We just started the project over one month ago. Most of the effort so far has gone into creating and figuring out the idea and designing and building the website. We are currently still in the funding stage of the project. However, I will be updating this thread with reports and updates as we go along.

I forgot about this thread, but after lots of planning since January, we finally had our first session last week. It was in Houston, Texas in a refugee placement area. It was a half day thing from noon till sunset. We had tons of kids come and stop by, but we had about a dozen dedicated kids who were there most of the time, and were actually trying to learn the cube. Most of the kids got The first few steps down, and are continuing to learn through our interactive website (which has a section for students to learn, where each student gets their own dashboard and can track their progress, learn the next steps, and ask any questions which I can answer), Our YouTube channel, and brochures we handed out. Surprisingly, one kid actually managed to learn to solve The Rubik's cube in half a day, and another got everything except the last step before we had to pack up because it was getting dark. Like the others, he is also continuing to learn through our website. Free cubes and candy were handed out.

If you want to support us, please check out our website, subscribe to our YouTube channel, and follow our new Instagram for updates and so we can spread the word.

And if possible, please DM me anywhere or check out our website to see how you can help find future events and sub-projects. Unlike other non-profits, every donation goes straight towards such events and projects, as our only expense is our website domain which is $16 a year, and we get cubes in bulk for relatively cheap (sometimes as low as 1.5$ per cube).

We plan to host many more events in the future, and I have a new idea that I'm trying to fund that helps older children by providing the resources needed for an equal opportunity on tests such as The SAT, PSAT, APs, and other tests for college.

Thank you for reading, for some reason it's not letting me attach all the pictures so I will leave a sample picture here, but for more pictures check out our Instagram. If you have any ideas for the future please let me know!

Hey everyone, we are starting a calculator drive! The purpose of this calculator drive is to be able to loan out calculators to students who are unable to pay for one, so all students have an equal opportunity on exams like the PSAT, SAT, AP exams, and other similar exams. Even though this does not directly relate to cubing, it is in theme with our project's purpose of being able to provide an equal education opportunity to all students, and we are excited to see how Cubers everywhere can come together to help make a difference. If you have an old scientific or graphing calculator that is not being used anymore, please DM me and I will give you our shipping address. Once we receive it and make sure it is acceptable by College board exam standards, we will start loaning them out when a student needs. We already have students who are in need of calculators and have contact with local schools who can refer students to us if needed. Our goal is to get 5 calculators. If you are unable to donate calculators, please spread the word if you can! If you want to donate, but want to take a look at the approved calculator list from College Board first, click here. We will provide frequent updates on the success of this event on our Instagram.
