Hi, im Joseph, and I recently passed my 2 year cubing anniversary, and I did take a half year break, so I have been cubing for about 1 1.2 years now. After the first week i was averaging 50 seconds, and I practiced a lot everyday, until I was able to average about 30 seconds with beginners method LL and decent f2l (I practiced a lot on it). I got a gan 11 m pro as a christmas gift, and I was learning 2 look oll at the time, so my time was about 25 seconds then. I learned full 2-look cfop courtesy of J-perm, and I managed to dip down my times to 22 seconds average, and I would also get sub 20 times ever couple of solves. My pb is 13.45, with the help of a last layer skip lmao. I've really been struggling getting my times down again, and I have started to climb back to 25 seconds, for some unknown reason. I guess this is a mix of a help and member intro, If that goes against the rules, can someone please tell me, I can start a new thread sorry lol. But some more stuff about me, I also do 2x2 (learning ortega rn), average around 8-9 seconds, and i also do pyraminx and skewb, but only for fun, no timing :)

Welcome to the SS forums!

I will give you the standard advice I give everyone who is averaging over 15 seconds. Keep practicing--this is important--and make sure you eliminate bad habits (such as unnecessary rotations during F2L or bad fingertricks) as fast as possible before they get worse!

You probably slowed down to 25 seconds because of a lack of practice. Practice a bit and you'll brush off all of that rust!

Hello there. I hope you still find cubing enjoyable.

I would suggest you try to do untimed solves. It will help improve the quality of your solves like lookahead and recognition, and you will be less obssessed about the time you got.

Happy cubing!

Welcome! I think the reason why you are going up a bit is because you might be tired a bit, taking a rest works.

I still do find cubing very enjoyable, and I do like to race my friends every once in a while, and while I haven't been to a tournament, I do practice with a cover and a stackmat timer. My times when averaging 22 were 3 cross, 10(give or take a second here) f2l, 5 oll, and 3 pll. Just a quick note, I started practicing a bit before christmas, so for about a month again, and it was in that month I was able to average 22. Thanks everyone for their advice, and i'll try to implement it as soon as possible.

You need to find what you part of solving the cube you are actually doing bad. Just cubing mindlessly won't give you anything other than Experience.
Watch some Example solves and see where you can improve and do research on it.

I actually do record my solves, and review them. I also use my rubiks connected, to see the moves im doing, and what I need to review on.

I used to be about the same speed as you and my advice is to learn intuitive f2l and full pll, and then just spam solves. I did around 2000 solves when i was your speed and i was able to get consistent sub 20s. Now i am basically sub 15 and i have almost finished oll. I think learning good inserts for f2l cases and learning full pll + lots and lots of solves will get your times down quickly!

hope this helps- Cheers!
