Hi, I'm Sandra Workman, username ABCubeTutor.

I am a grandmother who has been cubing for 3+ decades. I am not a speedcuber, but I am a cube master, and I have been teaching friends and strangers how to solve since i was in middle school.

(oops, typo, not 30+ decades, only 3+)

I have created my own unique solve method that works on all complexity cubes and has no algorithms, including eliminating any parity algorithm.

while i am expert at teaching cubing, i am bupkis at wiki, and i have no idea how to edit.

how can i create a page for my solution?

thanks in advance, and yes, it is a completely new solution.

Welcome! Unfortunately I am also a wiki noob so can't help you there! This method sounds interesting, explanation?

Welcome to the forums!

Would you please explain your method?

i am happy to explain my method.

i made a Wix site doing so, and a Youtube Playlist, the links to both are on my member page, but....

simply put, i took the motions from a final center solve on a large cube, and applied those motions to smaller cubes, and discovered that the myriad algorithms i had memorized (and had to remember not just the algorithm but the order of operations) were obsolete and could be replaced by this one simple 8 twist formula. it worked on corners, edges, and centers, and would never displace previously placed pieces, whether i was using it for the first placement or the last placement. and this, plus a 4 twist move, worked on every cube complexity i had

and I also discovered that a parity is always caused by an invisible center row being one quarter turn off, so making that turn and then solving eliminated every parity and every parity algorithm.

i took 5 years to perfect it and put it in written form, i wanted to send it to the ForDummies people, but they don't take unsolicited and i couldn't get an agent without some credibility, so i brain-dumped it into a Wix Site, created a YouTube playlist to supplement it, and now, if i can get it added to this site i can use this site to be the credibility for a wikipedia edit,

like i said, i'm not a speedcuber, but i can literally teach anyone to solve, in about 2 sessions, and i always start the newb off with the 5x5x5 cube, to eliminate the psychological intimidation of moving up from a 3x3x3 to higher, when they start with the 5x5x5, they know everything smaller is just scaling down what they know, and anything bigger is just more of the same.

so, no cube language to learn, no memorizing algorithms, no panic when you see a parity, and when i say i "wrote a book" it is a misnomer, because it is mostly pictures, mostly visual. as in, does your cube look like this? do these moves, now it looks like this.

it may not be of much interest to speedcubers, but if they have any friends who aren't willing to put in months of memorization and keep asking for 'the secret,' this is it. this is the secret that will allow a non-cuber to solve every cube they pick up, from 2x2x2 through nxnxn.

also, with a minor adjustment, it also works on the WitEden 3x3x9.

I name the two formulas, Formula A and Formula B, hence the ABCube method or Workman Method.

Welcome. It's impressive to come up with your own methods :) most people are taught or just look it up online.

oh, back in the day, i couldn't solve it myself, i was firmly in the one layer club. i bought James Nourse's book, and that was what i taught all my friends. it was because i was so lost in solving the Professor's Cube that got me to create my own way.

see, i was playing with the Void Cube, and i got a parity same as a 4x4x4 would have, and that is how i figured out about the invisible center being off a quarter turn.

also, in reassembling a big cube after it fell apart, i discovered that in reassemble, the absolute center has to be correctly placed, the corners and edges need to be correctly placed, but for all the rest, you can just assemble the centers any way they fit by size, ignoring the colors and saving quite a bit of time, because unless you are dealing with a picture (rare for more than a 3x3x3) each piece can be correctly placed in one of 4 places, for there is no way to get them wrong. just assemble by size, then solve for color.

thanks. now i want my method to be one of the ones they look up online.

My dad came up with his own method!

the hardest part about creating a new method is forcing yourself to forget all the algorithms and shortcuts you know, to make sure it can all be done with the new method.

yeah but he came up with it when it came out so it was his first method (and the one he insists on using lol)
I might use your method to solve the 9x9 i'm getting for xmas (not having solved anything higher than 4x4 lol)

yes please, i'd like that. especially if you give me feedback.
