SS Competition Results

Really unexpected, I've had some decent 60 attempts and some really crap ones as well the last few weeks. I decided to tweak my review system a bit for this attempt, kind of as an experiment for when I eventually try to build up towards 70. I usually do 30(4 passed), 20 (3 passed), and then 2 pass the rest. I decided to try 30(4 pass) 30(3 pass) and then just a 3BLD, to make moving towards 70 easier (mainly because I suck pretty hard at 2 passing). Total trial run lol, ended up with this result and I'm still in shock. I expected it to be way slower than usual, but the memo was only slightly slower than my past few attempts, and I didn't blank on any cubes so the execution was really good.

Getting World Best is cool, 59 points in only a few seconds faster than Graham. But I'm sure he is going to crush this very soon :P.
Memo: 39:46.71 (39.13 per cube)
Execution: 19:16.14 (18.95 per cube)
Total: 59:02.85 (58.08 per cube)

His progress over the last months is amazing. I am super excited that there are two exceptional cubers in MBLD at the moment. I hope that Rowe and Graham keep pushing each other as well as the limits of MBLD.

Crazy to see so many top blind solvers using non magnetic stickered cubes. These are GTS2s, according to a previous video.
It has to do with sponsorship no? they'd probably use magnetic ones instead but it would be crazy expensive
just saw your post about the 3bld record, weird, i personally havnt found a reason why non magnetic or stickered would be better. I love stickerless. The maintenance reduction.

Does anyone think that the wr would be 100/>100
I think it is possible. 36s per cube might give you 12-15s for execution and 21-24s for memo. 3-pass memo should be possible during that time.
I am not saying that it is easy, but people have been achieving amazing things over the last years ...

I remember someone saying that S and E moves are easier to perform with non-magnetic cubes. Not a 100% sure though.

Whoa, it is absolutely amazing that Rowe was able to improve this much in the past 6 months. Clearly at his last competition in November, 30 cubes would have been pretty much the very edge of his ability. If it's possible to improve that much in less than 6 months, clearly this record is still very much in reach.

Nice to see Rowe back into BLD solving! He was away from it for far too long. What an inspiration! (To think I remember him doing 19/33 officially in 5 1/2 hours 12 years ago!)

oh right i totallly forgot, i myself didnt want to put magnets on the hualong becuase the slices were nice without, my hualong has magnets now and i like it better though, but yeah its def. a possibility, because its a hualong and because i play piano etc

No that’s not very possible to do. Right now, you would have to be doing about 25 seconds per cube (memo and solving) and then be incredibly good at Roman rooms to be able to memo and recall that fast. So no, this isn’t even possible right now.
Some day, that probably will be possible within an hour though.

Many magnetic cubes repel reach other when packed together if the table has a low friction surface. While this may not be an issue at home if you find a good table, the problem is that you can't guarantee your table surface at a competition. Mark sold me a bunch of GTS2Ms after he realized this at a competition where he couldn't maintain his packs of 8 without them pushing apart.

I couldn't believe that this is an issue. But I just used my smartphone display as a low friction surface and I was able to push a cube around with another one without touching it. The distance was only 2-3mm but there are certainly cubes with stronger magnets than my GAN X and XS. Also, multiple cubes should reinforce the effect.

dam I didn't see that one comming
wouldnt a paper do it?
im guessing placinga paper underneath the cubes is against some wca rule
ecologysm has gone too far

I didnt say that you had 1 hour

30(4 passed), 20 (3 passed), and then 2 pass the rest
What does the mean by this

I didnt say that you had 1 hour

There are already many videos on YouTube of 100+ come attempts with unlimited time. For example:

Memory palace techniques work so well that if there is no time limit, the number of cubes is basically limited by how long you can stay awake.

Graham actually talked about this during one of his streams like 1-2 months ago. If you memo like 200 in a day, and reviews of course, you can go sleep and continue on with more cubes the following day, there really isn't a problem. Just remember to review cubes, and you could probably go on for about 4 days, and probably attempt 600+ cubes. I would love to see something like this being done, pushing your mental limit like that. I myself would actually want to try something like this but I only have 60 something cubes and can do that <3 hours.
