I know the following two algorithms to orient edges if corners are all okay...

(M' U)*4 (M U)*4 -- flips all 4.

M' U M' U M' U2 M U M U M U2 -- flips front and back edges

But I'm missing the one (this is for LL algs) that lets you use ONLY M', M, U and U' to solve the FL edges (FRONT AND LEFT) or FR edges (FRONT AND RIGHT); of course, both I refer to are on the TOP LAYER... (say I was doing Fridrich...)

How would I just flip those two without affecting the rest of the cube?? (If i were to translate this into a blind algorithm as well, so if I get a bufferpiece as the last one to move I don't have to cycle, I can just apply this algorithm...)??

EDIT:

Does this work??

M2 U' (M U2) (M' U')*2 (M' U2) (M U' M')

There's nothing FASTER than this one?? (It's not very fingertrick friendly, if you know what I mean... I keep getting 7.xx's on it...)

Depending on your preference but using setup moves is much easier. If you've been on cubefreak its got the description.

(M' U)*4 -- flips all 4.
do you mean [(M'U)*3 (M'U')]*2 ? The one you wrote flips UL UB DF and DB, but this one flips UF UR UB UL.

M2 U' (M U2) (M' U')*2 (M' U2) (M U' M')

There's nothing FASTER than this one?? (It's not very fingertrick friendly, if you know what I mean... I keep getting 7.xx's on it...)

inverse:

M U M' U2 M U M U M U2 M' U M2

mirrors:

M2 U M' U2 M U M U M U2 M' U M
M2 U' M' U2 M U' M U' M U2 M' U' M
M2 U' M U2 M' U' M' U' M' U2 M U' M'

mirrors of inverse:

M U' M' U2 M U' M U' M U2 M' U' M2
M' U M U2 M' U M' U M' U2 M U M2
M' U' M U2 M' U' M' U' M' U2 M U' M2

Wait is this for a non-f2l method? If so then you should just use M U/U' M' to set up to UF and UB and flip that way.

If this is for an F2l method then use:
4-flip: r' R U R U R' U' r2 R2' U R U' r'
opp-flip: R U R' U' r R' U R U' r'
adj-flip: r U R' U' r' R U R U' R'

Sorry Sarah, edited... >_>

@ Vault: I meant it more of as an OLL case without affecting corner permutation (or orientation) -- think of it as if you were doing it blind and needed a commutator to JUST FLIP THOSE TWO EDGES.

I have them for all 4 on top and 2 across, but not two beside...

I would probably prefer this one, because I find M' and U easier than M and U':

M' U M (U2 M' U M' U M' U2) M U M2

Flips back and left edges.

And here's how I flip all 4:

(M' U2 M U2) (M' U M U2) (M' U2 M) U'

I don't know if it's really faster, but it's shorter.

Opposite Flip:
(M'U)*4 U (M'U)*3 M'

Adjacent Flip:
Sexy moves, Opposite Flip, Anti-Sexy moves
or (M'U)*4 z2 (M'U)*4 U (M'U)*3 M' z2

4 Flip:
[(M'U)*3 M'U']*2

All very intuitive, based on basic alg: (M'U)*4
This is how I teach some beginners EO (for BLD or regular solving)

here's how I flip my edges

4 edges > (M' U' M' U' M' U' M') U (M' U' M' U' M' U' M') pretty quick

2 opposite > (M' U M' U M' U M') U2 (M' U M' U M' U M')

2 adjacent > M' U M U2 M' U M (this swaps them as well though)

What the heck does "sexy moves" mean??
Anti-sexy?!?!?! :confused::confused:

All so confusing for a n00b like me. :(

Is a z rotation the one where you flip it over from the left side?
