I ordered an eastsheen 2x2, a white square one, and a type D (YUGA) cube.

I've never had an eastsheen cube before, but it feels extremely loose, but fast. Not disappointed at all. It's awesome.

The square one... WTF it is the stiffest thing to move ever. Even worse than all of my storebought cubes. And when it doesn't turn, I'm afraid I'll break it if I force it, because it feels so fragile (again, more fragile than a storebought rubik's. By far). The middle slice turns fine, but the top and bottom layers just turn like crap. Is it supposed to be like that?

The type D cube. My first DIY ever; not disappointed at all when compared to my past storeboughts. Only strange thing was that when I opened it to look at the screws (they were the fat ones, btw ;)), was that when I was disassembling the cube, I noticed that my fingers were sticky. I then looked at it in the light, and noticed that the cube was wet. Why was it prelubed? I've never lubed a cube as much so that it was as wet as this cube.

Wow I didn't know the caps came off. Thanks. I assume to disassemble and lube, I'd have to take the screw out and it'd just fall apart? Looks like the screw goes all the way through. I'm not going to do it now since I'm eating.

As for the cube I just wanted to know why they lube them.

How long was the shipping?

BTW I ordered a type D as well. Did anyone else get it pre-lubed?

I got mine pre-lubed. I just wiped it off and changed the core.

Shipping was 3 weeks with AIR. Delayed because I ordered it over Christmas.

I ordered from 9spuzzles about 2 weeks ago
and nothing yet.
1 week ago from C4Y (well cubefans, but same thing)
and nothing yet.
a few days ago from DX
and nothing yet.
(birthday money -- also got vcube set for birthday and loving it)

but anyway my point is that shipping takes forever, and if 9spuzzles ships from China then it won't even start shipping for another few days because of Chinese New Years (I think)

disregard the fact that this is a completely off-topic response to a completely off-topic post.

It took 9 days from when it was shipped, and I ordered it about 3 days before that. So almost 2 weeks to get here. I'm afraid of taking the Square One apart for now because I might not know how to put it back together...

Are storeboughts really that bad to you? I don't see the big deal about DIYs. You really only need one if you're going very fast. (sub 15, or faster).

That is entirley untrue, it all depends on the turning style of the person, if they have very accurate turning, then a nice storebought could be good for them.
However, if you have bad turning accuracy, then a DIY could be good for you. And also some people just like DIY cubes for their feel, for instance, my best storebought, feels very very different from my type a's or my C4U cube. It has very little to do with speed, it has to do with preferance.

The only thing I hate about them is locking up when I misalign the layers by a few degrees. It's ridiculous and just really pisses me off.

Just stick the straw from the lube can on the top of the cube (where the pieces join).

Then it's either not broken in, or lubed, or used enough. Using a formula that's been posted (the one with ArcTan) my Storebought cuts corners at 25.67 degrees.
